Do you ever think the U.S. and Iran would be fighting on the same side in a war?
Iran has been actively fighting ISIS in Iraq, and now that the U.S. is also fighting ISIS in Iran, it puts Iran and the U.S. on the same side in the conflict. Strange bedfellows the MidEast quagmire makes. Did you ever imagine the U.S. and Iran would be fighting on the same side in a war?
Oh, do not be fooled by the coincidence. I do not think they are fighting together (side by side) The United States has troops on the ground for training and Obama has initiated air strikes in the north of Iraq. It is totally against Islamic belief to fight side by side with Christians. The only logical reason for this is it has to be beneficial to Iran to even be in the same country with the United States.
That is true that they are not fighting side by side. I did read that Iran is also bombing ISIS. It is more like the enemy of my enemy is my friend, in this case. Iran has the objective of helping the Shitte friendly govt in Baghdad. Their ally.
Obama is taking this approach because he wants better relations with Iran (a good thing), but it won't last. Hillary Clinton particularly hates the Iranians. She voted to make the Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization; repeatedly tries to start wars with Iran by using inflammatory language; appears to be in bed with the Israelis; and her son-in-law is a Jewish banker. So if she becomes President, expect things to change for the worse. If the Republicans win, they have a history of working more with the Sunni Muslims because of their ties to the oil industry. Whoever is in charge, things will probably get more antagonistic with Iran soon enough. If things go the way I predict, Iran and the IS will go to war in a few years. America will covertly supply the IS. Russia will supply the Iranians. Israel will sit by and watch their enemies destroy themselves... which, lets face it, is what this will all be for.
"The enemy of my enemy is my friend."
Historically enemies have created "temporary allies" among nations who had shared concerns over (their) security and national interest.
The U.S. is more likely to get involved in an (oil rich) Middle East conflict than in some barren wasteland in Africa.
They're "already" fighting on the same side buddy, they're all fighting for the side of the ego....There's the ego collective destructive mind that controls all those ego's, & forces them to fight with each other like immature kids....Then there's the good kind loving people that want to live & experience & love life, that are being wiped out by the ego's collective destructive immature mind....It's a clear battle of love vs ego the heart vs the mind, & that includes each one of our minds which are being controlled through the media/schools/religions etc....All governments/royals/religions/celebs/corporations etc, their all ego's controlling all the other smaller ego's....There is still a small population of people that aren't identified with all the other ego minds, & speaking on their behalf we're sick of seeing ego's & people worshipping the big ego's!....So in answer to your question buddy anyone who fights is on the same side, & they always have been....That is the side of their ego mind, & the collective ego mind.
If the Shah were still in power we would still be fighting alongside Iran as we were prior to 1979.
Shooting in the same direction doesn't mean fighting together. Military folks tend to be pragmatic, so if it came down to a larger US military effort, I could see some behind the scenes communication and coordination, but wouldn't expect any public acknowledgment of cooperation or soldiers from both sides shoulder to shoulder.
In some future I could see this happening. The Iranian people are generally moderate and have a decent opinion of America. It is their leadership that can be a bit extreme. Of course, we'd have to stop listening to the ridiculous fear-mongering and propaganda we are fed about them as well, but it could happen eventually.
