   In the stock market, can the open price be higher than the high of the day?
   
   And likewise, can the open price be lower than the low of the day?

   No. But the open price can be the high of the day or the low of the day.

   No.  I don't see how it could be.  Its like saying can the temperature at Noon be higher than the daily maximum.

      Are there different synoptic reporting times for maximum and minimum temperatures for various WMO Regions? A day in USA is the same as a day in Australia using UTC (GMT) but completely different when using the local standard time for each country.

   It makes me wonder if you mean something other than what you've asked. The reason I say this is that the highest number can't be higher than the highest number. Therefore, the only resolve of your questions as asked is that the opening price can be the high of the day, or the opening price can be the low of the day, furthermore, the opening price may not be the high or the low as it can also fall in between the high and the low of the day.

   Open price represents the market price of stock at that moment of the day.
   Low Price = Open Price = High Price
