How can I get unlimited internet in a rural area?
I live 1/4 mile from the cable service area, the dish companies are VERY limited (if even available), and the local phone company charges twice as much as the cable company for much less service.
How can I get unlimted internet service in a rural area without paying a fortune? I have 3 teenagers playing online and 10GB caps are not cutting it.
Sadly, there is no real answer it's hard because they don't offer as much as capital cities. When I was younger I had the same problems. I suggest talking to your service provider and trying to get a better deal or try your hardest to find your best provider possible.
I would give you a better answer but sadly I'm not sure of where you live.
Goodluck in the future and feel free to reply if you want more help!
Their answer was pretty much that I don't have to get their service. Randolph Telephone charges $160 for a half decent internet speed/mandatory phone/a few TV channels. Time Warner charges $89 for 2GB more internet speed/200 channels.
Dish is more.
What's the internet Speed ?? If you know. I was in the same boat but the Australian Government Rolled out a New Source of internet called Fixed Wireless we now get 1000GB for around $120 and that's including the House Phone
Not sure where you are in the world.
We are rural, and have Satellite Broadband - a wee dish on our roof, aimed at the local school (so we get extra fast speeds due to a government initiative that all schools have the fastest broadband available...we are legally allowed to 'microwave' off of them...for slightly faster speeds than we'd get), and unlimited.
But, I'm in New Zealand....so I probably aren't much help.
You'll just have to bargain with what choices you have. I'm back in the sticks, too. Finally a few years ago Verizon put DSL up this hollow. It's not cheap, but it's not dial up and that wasn't cheap either if you had an extra computer line and paid a provider. Our biggest problems are that they haven't finished updating the lines running from house to house and sometimes we lose the phone and the internet for hours. Good luck.

I figure this would be an excellent thread for people to find out if they are being robbed blind or not. I'll start.$30/month here. Verizon DSL. I'm actually somewhat fond of them. How about you?An update caused by the posts I've seen so far. My bandwidth is unlimited, Verizon never even brought up...

I am trying to find a decent high speed internet service in my area. It seems that the only ones that offer service where I am located, sell internet by the gigabyte, and not by monthly use. I'm just curious about how a person would know how many gigabytes of internet they are using in a month....
