   Do you read fiction in multiple genres?
   
   Do you jump around and read books from all genres, or are you drawn to just one? Which ones do you read the most books from?

   Yes, I'll give just about everything a try but won't continue if it hasn't hooked me in the first couple chapters or offends me in some way thereafter. I have read a lot of historical fiction, fantasy and science fiction, and literary fiction.

   Yes, I like classic fiction, big name fiction, fantasy and I pick books mainly on if its a must read and I know i'm probably going to like it. Usually I go to sites that list top 100 books and start from there. The bestfantasybooks.com is a great start if you are trying to get into fantasy or scifi.

   Yes. My library has all sorts of fiction. I read horror, fantasy, sci-fi, romance, YA, short fiction, crime, and more. When I was younger, I mostly read fantasy novels. Now I read a wider range of genres.

   In fiction, much of my reading is focused on military history and police procedural writing (e.g., Michael Connelly, David Baldacci, Tom Clancy). Firearms is an understandably arcane subject and, for some writers, technical discrepancies seriously affect credibility. Errors indicate a poor understanding of topic, inexperience, failure to research or consult qualified input. Fiction based on historical events is often interesting to me.

      I'm with you on the military/ police thrillers. I'm a big fan of Clancy and Ludlum. I can't stand technical discrepancies either. Like, come on now--you don't (can't) cock a Glock....you just point and shoot.

   I jump around and read books from many genres. I read pop science, college textbooks, some non-fiction novels, science fiction, fantasy, horror, thrillers, action adventures, and erotica. About the only types of fiction novels I'm not into are romances, novels stuffed with political propaganda, and westerns.
   
   Science and science fiction would take the lead by the numbers, though.

   I like crime fiction, psychological thrillers, court room drama, science fiction and fantasy, and historical fiction. For some reason I rarely read comedy, and never romance.

   I like a literary style in any fiction I read.  For me, it's all about the texture of a story.  If the characters and setting are in any way one dimensional, I can't read beyond a couple of pages. I have to have depth.
   
   I like historical fiction that has been well researched and brings the era and characters to life.  I don't read a lot of historical romance, but when I do I like it written in a good literary style.   I enjoy magical realism and some dark fantasy, but again tend to gravitate toward historical fiction.  The most recent I read was, "Auriel Rising", by Elizabeth Redfern.  She has written only two books and is one of the most amazing authors I've come across.  A literary style without a lot of introspection, but it works really, really well. 
   
   I do read a lot of non-fiction, mostly on historical themes.
