I think it's important to define what you mean by "life." Do you mean physical life or mere sentience in a non-physical form? Since no one knows what (if anything) lies beyond death, "life" could potentially take many forms.

Of course, it's possible that our self-awareness also ceases after the death of the body. It's also a possibility that what we perceive as "life" now is just an illusion. We just don't know.

I'd like to think that my self-awareness will remain in some form after death. Of course, I have no proof for this hope and only time will tell.

Yes Vince, there should be a life after death. This world and the human lives have strong evidences to support the fact.
    1) Everything has been created in pairs, heavens and earth, day and night, man and woman.... fruits, animals even in vegetation one can find pairs... the atoms, the particles, poles... have there pairs.
So for this world the next and for this life the life Hereafter is but the respective pair.
    2) This world doesn't recompense. Take for instance virtues. No rewards for righteous deeds can justify. So there should be another life wherein one can enjoy the rewards of his/her virtuous deeds, there you have concept of Paradise.
Similarly, for evil deeds the punishment doesn't justify, if some one kills many, then what punishment can be termed as justifiable for him? He can't be killed as many times... So there should a life wherein he should be severely punished for his crimes before those who were sufferer.
    3) There is a definite purpose of the universe and whatever exist here, so as the world and the human lives.... the life Hereafter is going to be a benchmark to judge how far the lives of individuals and groups were according to the purpose with which they have been bought to existence?
This way if one thinks, there may appear logical, rational and moral reasons behind the existence of life Hereafter.

None of your reasons for believing in an afterlife are ACTUAL EVIDENCES. They are your personal opinions, based on your own assumptions, not definitive proof. Just wanted to point that out.

If it's so, then how do you negate those assumptions Levi?  Either you should come out with solid evidences else what then?

I don't have to negate them. I suppose they COULD be possible, but you lack the evidence to prove that. That's the point I was trying to make. Too many people are sure about things that are really unknowable.
