Earning is important to sustain and to pay the bills, but is it everything? No. Reputation is defined by one’s ethics, morals, and values. It is stated in Gita, “Do your good deeds and don’t worry about the fruits.” The truth is that, we actually “do” worry about the fruits. Our patience has become our weakness in today’s restless world. We create a list of our desires to fulfill, irrespective of our capacities. Desires are endless. Desires never end, but the human ends. I mean, we need to think out of the box to live a sustainable life, and one that is enriching in itself despite the adversities.
So yes, I would say that good deeds are inevitable for a beautiful life, for prosperity, for inner peace of mind, etc. Naturally, if the deeds are good, it will leave an imprint on the reputation, thereby opening a door to inner-beauty. Earning is secondary. A good reputation is the greatest ornament to any sensible man or woman.

Life is in the living, in the tissue of everyday and every hour.
“Happy, the man, and happy he alone,
He, who can call to-day his own,
He who, secure within, can say:
Tomorrow, do thy worst, for I have liv’d today.” - Roman Poet, Horace.

    Om Shanti!
