   I'm new to the site and joined primarily to post poetry and have yet figured out how to do so.  When I click on Write, what comes up really doesn't seem relevant to posting poetry, just articles.  What am I missing?  I'd appreciate any feedback you are able to provide.

      There is a subcategory for poetry under "Books, Literature, and Writing" where you can publish them.

      You can only publish via the Write button. Just follow the steps through.

      Use those same text and photo capsules. Just insert your work in a text capsule and add a photo capsule.

      I myself am very new here; however, my very first HP submission was a poem.  I started the "Write" process, and was a bit dismayed, thinking "Oh, I best write some articles, as I am never going to have this poem published."  Nonetheless, I decided to proceed in writing the poem and ultimately publishing.
      
      I knew to give myself a chance, I had to at least have a picture or two to go with my text, as well as add something like a quiz.  I was lucky enough to be able to break my submission into 4 parts and composed by:
      
      1.Text capsule - title of poem and intro 6-line stanza
      2. Photo capsule - related image to poem
      3. Text capsule - 6-line stanza
      4. Photo capsule - related image to poem
      5. Text capsule - 6-line stanza
      6. Photo capsule - related image to poem
      7. Text capsule - 6-line stanza
      8. Photo capsule - related image to poem
      9. Text capsule - 6-line stanza
      10. Poll module
      
      I only had 279 words and decent content, so thought I was doomed; however was pleasantly surprised when the poem became featured within 24 hours.  Two days later, I received an email stating it was moved to Letterpile (being brand new, I thought this was a bad thing- know better now).

   Yo have already received great advice here so I won't add to it. Poetry doesn't have the strict word count guidelines of other writing here. I have around 300 posts here and the majority are poems so it isn't a problem. good luck.

      When posting on a site like this does you work need to be copyrighted?
      What's the best way a newbie like me can publish their work?

         Sheamus, nice to meet another poet. Yes, copyrighting your work here is a good idea. You’ll see when editing your hub that there is a capsule for this that you can tick and it will automatically add the copyright, your name and year. It is an easy matter publishing your work here but if you want feel free to check some of my poetry hubs for ideas. I usually add additional commentary or information as well as the poem.
