The traffic on one of my articles suddenly dropped dead.

I went on Google to see what happened.

Google has stuck a YouTube video on the same subject above my article.

    Goodbye traffic for that article.

    I guess it was inevitable.

People don't read anymore if they can watch Para.  The way technology is going they probably won't teach kids to read in the future lol!  Hope the video disappears and your hub flourishes again.  Google hates all my hubs at the moment, so I feel for you

I feel like it's a reminder that as creators we have to diversify. That said, I actually *very* rarely choose a video over a written article and find the Youtube video search results annoying.

I'm with you - I would MUCH rather read an article that watch someone stumble through a poorly filmed video.  Or a well filmed one for that matter.

I think it depends what it is. I generally prefer a written article. But if it's a tutorial, such as replacing the heating element in a washing machine, or some photo editing procedure, I will go for the video.

I'm surprised at a video completely wiping out an article's traffic to be honest.

I will still take the written article...if it has a good set of photos with it.  "Take this 10mm bolt out, using a 10mm open end wrench", coupled with a photo with an arrow pointing to the bolt.

I don't have to keep rewinding the video, and don't waste my time listening to what I don't need to hear.

Some of your stuff, practical electronics etc., does lend itself to videos, I would've thought? One can always combine a video with diagrams, though it's often not done.

A lot of my articles are lists, which aren't so good in video format.

I actually like making videos, but they are super time-consuming and I don't feel like I've got the personality for presenting. I feel it's a growing area though. Some people seem to do very well with videos.
