According to various sources, Hollywood is contemplating making a sequel to Jim Henson's cult classic, "Labyrinth", whom some of you might remember is the movie about the young girl falling into a fantasy world trying to rescue a baby, while being confronted by a mysterious figure that's played by the late David Bowie.

While I wasn't the biggest David Bowie fan per say, I do think making a sequel to this film would be a mistake.  Mostly because David Bowie was so largely associated with that film that making any kind of continuation without him seems a bit pointless and stupid.   And you can't really reboot the film either because who else going to play his role in that movie as well as he did?   Granted, I'm sure there's other talented actors that could pull off that iconic role, but it won't be the same.  It's the same reason why I didn't care much for the live action remake of Aladdin as much as I loved original animated one.   No offense to Will Smith, who still did a great job in the movie as best as he could, the problem was he's no Robin Williams, and a large part of why the cartoon was so iconic was because of Robin's comedic performance.   It's the same with Labyrinth and David Bowie.  Both are so intertwined that it really doesn't matter who you get to play his character, it's not going to be same, but what are your thoughts on this?

I was never a Labyrinth fan so I'm 'meh' at best, but I heard Brian Henson is involved so...

I'm just curious to see what they're going to do about the Goblin King character since David Bowie is literally that character in most people's eyes when it comes to that character.  It's one of the many reasons why "Solo:  A star wars story" bombed because too many star wars fans believe Harrison Ford IS Han Solo, and they refused to accept anyone else in that role, so I'm curious to see what they'll do about it.

Sure, they could recast the role, but the only actor I can see playing that part is Johnny Depp, but given the current situation between both him and Amber Heard, I'm not entirely sure that's a good idea; even though I think Johnny hasn't done anything wrong but it would still be a PR nightmare since the media seems to side with Amber Heard in spite of the facts.

Of course a friend of mine said they could just use CGI to recreate David Bowie, but whether or not his family would agree to that is another story.
