APA Style Titles

Fun fact: According to the APA, only Level 1 and 2 headings should be capitalized, but not Levels 3, 4 and 5.

I'd suggest to clarify this in the help texts because anyone who has ever tried to publish an article in an APA journal is aware of this and may be confused upon reading that HubPages requires APA style headings. Nor does the formatting follow APA style, nor does the capitalization.

On several articles, editors have changed my H3 titles to all caps.

Yeah, that's what I mean. It's a standard specific for HubPages, not APA style!

'...a standard specific for hubpages...? Can a superstitious Jew take that? We should consistently follow the APA model.

I would suggest you send them a note about the correction. They are not always right. They have a lot of work to do editing all our articles, and it's easy for them to miss things.

I though that was a mistake or an oversight on the part of some experience writers.

In my most recent article on RemedyGrove, editors asked me to change my titles as

    1) main title, ( The Heading that’s of course in APA format)
    2) subtitles to H2,
    3) and further down where I used bold text 'How to do' to H3,
(but these subheadings are not in APA format )

I think, you should try to send an email to the editors to inquire about the additional information. smile

    Best wishes!

    Should H3 subtitles be bolded?

      No.

Edit: they just asked me to change my bold text ‘How to do?’  to H3 subtitle.

        This is very confusing.
I was under the impression that, on Hubpages:

        - all headings are automatically set in bold face when you declare them as H2/3. There's no need to manually turn the bold face on or off.
        - all headings are always capitalized, including H3... At least that's what mine are like and I didn't get any complaint, and I couldn't find any specific rules about H3. Here would be the contradiction to the actual APA norms.

        Is it not like that?

Hubtools automatically format the H2 and H3 tags when they are selected. I never enabled or disabled the bold options for H2 and H3. But the format I demonstrated is what HubPages tools did for me.  For me H2 and H3 are not in APA format. smile
