I think this feature needs to be discontinued. Over time most of our hubs will succumb to loss of traffic. Nothing to do with the fall in quality of the hubs but simply reduced traffic. No matter how I twigged or improved, nothing works. Over time most of our hubs will be "unfeatured".
Google's rules have become far more stringent over time, which means an article that was ranking five years ago, no longer meets their quality guidelines. Even if it's featured, there's no point having it sit there impacting the entirely of Hubpage's SEO footprint if it doesn't get traffic.
You can still display it on your profile even if it's unfeatured.
Yes I would agree. They only want cool new stuff even if it's crap, rather than quality content.
I'm not sure what you mean by that?
It's true that HP want people to keep producing new stuff.
However, I've not seen anything to suggest that Google generally favors new articles over old.
I'm constantly seeing my guides pushed down the rankings by stuff that is newer, but much thinner in terms of length and depth of coverage. E.g a 40 line article that is just a paragraph with no structure.
I've not seen any major changes like that with the algo.
It's got harder to know what's happening, though. Updates roll out all the time nowadays so the turbulence is regular.
However, I don't intend to publish new hubs in the near future as I don't believe they generally do better than older articles.
There's been a slight uptick with views recently. They're still below what they were in early December, though, and earnings are worse than ever.
The relentless decline in earnings never ceases to shock.
Is it your opinion that have ads every 7-12 lines of text impacts the site's quality in Google's eyes?
Am tired of this none of my hubs has gotten featured, I know I have been here for only a week but still
Have you read all the material at the Learning Center (Click Help, top right, to navigate there)?
I noticed on your Seven Habits article that you have mixed up the headings. It's hard to see the 'seven'. Be consistent in the formatting or readers will be confused. I thought I was reading another article when I reached the 'Working out in a group' header. You don't need a heading in an image capsule, just a caption underneath, including citing and linking to the image source.
Good luck.

Well, when you are suffering from depression and you opened your hubpages stats then you notice that 9 of your supposed to be featured hubs got unfeatured due to lack of traffic.. Very disappointing indeed but, can you guys here suggest some tips in improving hits? I don't want to spam my facebook...

Some people say you should never, ever delete a hub...only edit it and such. What makes you just completely trash your own hubs?

I believe it is their policy now, but check the learning center to make sure or email the team. I'd be curious to know just how "low" they go before they unfeature.

Awhile back the team started unfeaturing articles due to lack of traffic. Many here think this is a bad idea, and I agree. Doing this upsets many writers and has nothing to do with quality or how Google views our work...except for the fact that leaving low or no traffic articles online...

On a different account, somewhat "experimental" account, one of my Hubs is unfeatured. Generally my inclination was to unpublish it and move it or just delete it. But I kept it and put it in a Hub group. Meaning, if the Hubs before and after it get traffic, possibly the unfeatured one...
