Greetings and silly salutations to all!
One thing we all share is the desire to express our thoughts in the form of words hence our accounts with HubPages. History repeatedly demonstrates that authors, philosophers, great orators and scientists of old were also great thinkers. They analyzed and were often tolerant of other points of view. In fact it would, indeed, be appropriate to say that they thirsted for knowledge. They believed that more knowledge increased their understanding.
Religion is, by far, the most opined category on this platform. We all have opinions but I have seen few instances of genuine understanding or tolerance of other people's views. It is sad and I believe is not in good spirit of the great writers of old.
So here is the test. I CHALLENGE all to comment on something good that they have seen or heard out of a faith not of your own. Whether it be a humanitarian mission, helping a transient or just your neighbor being helped out this is what this forum seeks. What knowledge of good can you share with us of positive activity from a faith not of your own.
Having set the tone of the forum I would caution trigger happy fingers that posting harmful or damaging thoughts of another religion or faith is not in good spirit and would only to serve to degrade you own name. Shall we begin!
Atoms wifey wrote me a genuinely thoughtful and loving email despite my previous shallowness.
In my small town each Thanksgiving a group of churches band together to create a successful good will dinner for community citizens. It is a wonderful display of cooperation and civility. It is truly what tolerance is all about. Many hundreds are fed at this time with this cooperation.
Also various groups are invited to donate to the Ministerial Crisis Fund which aids emergencies to individuals and familes in need. This, too, is a cooperation effort.
See, it can and does happen! When the walls of pride are brought down all things are possible.
I really appreciate my OB doctor who is Catholic. I am not Catholic, but I don't believe in birth control and sterilizations. Since he is Catholic, he does not bug me about these two things like other doctors have done in the past. Even though we have different doctorines, I am thankful to be his patient.
I recall Paraglider tried to start such a thread already. Did not live long, as far as I remember. Good luck to yours.
That reminds me Misha that Paraglider has started a world grass roots movement on awareness of social issues. It started with this Hub, titled "Can We Engineer a Bloodless Revolution?"
http://hubpages.com/hub/bloodless-revolution
The follow up Hub is titled "The Bloodless Revolution - Be a Part of it" http://hubpages.com/hub/bloodless-revolution-2
Then there's the Dropout Nation blog with articles contributed by some of the best socially concerned writers at HubPages.
http://dropoutnation.blogspot.com/2009_ … chive.html
This awareness movement is for all the people of our little planet, be they religious or not. All 5 steps of the Bloodless Revolution can be accomplished without confrontation, basically flying under the radar, with nothing to be confronted about. I particularly like that we should not be divided, "left against right, Christian against Muslim, man against woman, young against old."
Mike
Actually it ran to several pages and was quite enlightening. I was looking for the thread recently but it seems to have scrolled off the boards.
EDIT - here it is, 110 posts long-
http://hubpages.com/forum/topic/12180
My mid-wife and her husband are genuinely caring people. They will go out of their way to help people and the community with their knowledge and understanding of herbs. Once I made it clear that there was no chance of converting to their religion, all tension was set aside, and we became friends.
I am not Pentecostal nor do I subscribe to their views, I belong to a progressive church but I do find that Pentecostal Christians are some of the best at pulling together when the community is in need.
It is good topic to have conversation ..... I posting it to just bump it up to the forum thread .......
Please keep in mind that I had created this conversation as a sincere means of getting all readers involved in reflection and thinking of positive aspects of others whom you may not seemingly have any connection with. I personally do not care about the ratings although I am aware that participation drives it. I thank all who have offered input thus far.
I salute a local First Christian Pastor who has invited me and befriended me in incorporating myself, as a religious leader, into the local ministerial association. This is truly ground breaking for us. The Mormon faith has NEVER been welcomed into any such organization locally. It is good to see open doors where they have always been closed. Also in recognition for their recent friendship is the leaders of the local Shenandoah, Iowa Community of Christ, Methodist, Presbyterian, Catholic and a couple other faiths. Truly remarkable is religious tolerance.

Who thinks we should ask to reinstate a page dedicated to locating hubbers by hubber score. Beginning with 100-0.We once had such a page here that made the hubber score much more relevant, and we could at least get a chance to locate the top hubbers who most definitely deserved high praise for...

How do we let HP know about Anti-religious verbal extremists writing toxic hubs? There are a number of Hub authors writing specifically only Anti-religious extremist hubs. Technically this is "anti religious trolling". How can we ban them? Should there be a limit on the number of...

I'd like to suggest that we create such a thing. You can Google "SEO ethics" and "SEM ethics" to find suggestions of the types of things it might say. I found a few links that might get it started.http://www.pronetadvertising.com/articl …...

I was quite stunned a week or more ago when someone made a statement on one of my hubs that she had commented twice and I had snubbed her by not replying. Her comment had been particularly flattering, and probably because I've spent a lifetime being flattered by others only to find that they wanted...
