Recent games indicate the Vikings will go nowhere fast.  I'd like to see Bret go out in a blaze of glory, but it's not looking likely.

aye - though i'd rather see peyton v. favre than peyton v. brees.
I fear it will end up being Brady v. Warner

I'm holding out hope for Manning v Manning.

Unfortunately, the NFL's 2 best teams, Indy and San Diego are in the same conference.

manning-manning will have to wait until next year!  but that will be a good superbowl.  i wonder what sort of odds you could get on that bet in the offseason...?

in sports as in any sport . . you never know what spirit is with a team  . .any team. . on any given night....

if u watched the cowboy beats the undefeated Saints (well . . as of week 14 they were) and maybe you are watching the Giants Skins game tonight. . and you can see it with your own eyes. . there is a force pushing the Giants into the endzone tonight. . one we havent seen in a long time. ..

remember this is the nfl .. expect the unexpected

I have to agree; losing two of their last three, AP not running like he has in the past, it appears MN maybe coming apart at the seams.

jobisterposted 15 years agoin reply to this

Its not AP's fault it is the little tiff going on between Brett Favre and Brad Childress. They are fighting with each other to control the offense and in the end no one wins. Brett Favre thinks he knows better.. sigh that was his problem when he was in New York as well.

Assuming for the sake of argument that the Vikings could get that far, letting it turn into a QB "showdown" would be a good way for them to get blown out. They better get their money's worth out of Peterson.

hahahahah - yea, as it exists in my mind, a favre vs. manning showdown would be an epic battle of QBs.  In reality, it could turnout to be a very lopsided game.  But i'd love to see it happen!

  3. birdsfan profile image60

I think the best QB showdown would come in a Colts/Saints match up.  I have zero desire to see a Manning-Manning Super Bowl.  The Giants aren't good enough to make it that far this year.  They could easily miss the playoffs altogether.

I think the Super Bowl lies in the hands of the AFC right now.  Don't know if any NFC team is good enough to take down the Colts or Chargers the way the two are playing right now.

  4. tony0724 profile image60
    tony0724posted 15 years ago

And the Chargers have given the Colts a very difficult time over the last few years.

Yep, but their defense and running game aren't what they were in years past.  Rivers and his 7 ft receivers are awfully hard to stop.

This is NOT impossible.  The Jets do boast the NFL's number one ranked defense...Defense does win Championships after all smile

and a dominant running game! Add to that Rex Ryan and the confidence he has given these guys . .. So yes I do agree it is NOT IMPOSSIBLE.

But the Jets have broken my ♥ before so I rather just be pleasantly surprised when they beat the Bengals this weekend.

The Vikings had a very easy schedule this year and beat only one team with a winning record outside their division, Cincinnati. Favre is a late season slumper and always has bad Decembers. He won one Super Bowl. I don't think he has another in him.

Personally, I would like to see the Saints and Colts lock horns in the big one.

Vikings will get beat the first playoff game...

  10. ShaunMasterton profile image60

I thinks Saints and Colts would be a great superbowl.

However, Vikings deff aint going to superbowl. I just can't see them out-scoring Saints.

I'm a worried bears fan though, as usually a team with momentum going into the playoffs goes on to win the superbowl. Packers deff have momentum going into playoffs and could be the surprise package. Although I dun think there OLine can handle Vikings blitzes.

I still going with my pre-season pick, Eagles vs. Patriots with Patriots winning.

The Cowboys would beat the hands of Favre (his feets too). But since the Eagles are going to win, the Cards are going to have to put another beating on the Vikings instead.

Cowboys just might take your Eagles tonight. . and Im liking the Packers to stick it to the Cards. .

Maybe wink...I'd like that also, but I think the Cards match up against the Pack.

I'll try to call it, but it is biased.

The game I would love to see - Dallas Cowboys vs Patriots!!!

    Enough said. smile

    Romo vs Brady?

That's a match up I've seen one or twice, can't really remember.

But, to be in the SuperBowl would be awesome to watch. smile

The hottest teams right now seems to be:
    San Diego
    Green Bay
    Dallas

My ideal matchup for the Superbowl this year would be Cincinnati v Green Bay (Bengals are a team i've always liked for some odd reason although the Bills are far and away my favorite and Green Bay...i just want to see rodgers start to get some CREDIT)

    GO VIKINGS!!

The pecking order for teams I root against puts the Jets at the top for teams left today, so they are out.  I'm tired of the Bret Farve retirement stuff so as tempting as it would be to have him win it all and go away, I don't think that would happen so the Vikings are out.  That leaves me with Indy/N.O. in the Superbowl.

  17. Ron Montgomery profile image61
    Ron Montgomeryposted 14 years ago

I like all of the remaining teams. (one a bit more than the others wink )

The bitch about New England, San Diego, and Dallas being out is that I have no one to root against. mad
