    Here's an exercise that was interesting because it took me down memory lane & was actually fun as I thought it through. 

    In order of influence and/or importance to my development as a reasonably functionally dysfunctional human being, here's my top 15:

    2. A short history of australia by manning clark - its relevance and for developing my interest in australian history and culture beyond the high school text book.
    3.The man who planted trees - in an edited selection of short stories that I used to read in the outback..
    4.Songlines - re aboriginal songlines and the first real understanding of what we call their nomadic lifestyle.
    5.Grandmothers writing about great great uncle and overland telegraph that lead me to learn more about family history
    6.Hamlet - I had a medical skull on my desk when I studied called Yorick - who kept me company through my final yr of school
    7.to kill a mockingbird
    8.the diary of anna frank
    9.Dibs in search of self
    10.the bible
    11. My place - about aboriginal life/Long walk to freedom - Mandela
    12. The outsider by Camus - My final year literature book
    13. Simone de Bourviuor and the second sex,
    14. Waltzing matilda by banjo patterson
    15. Dr Seuss and the Cat in the Hat - as a child it was loved by myself and my brother, as it described our behavior some days.. and as an adult due to the links to the environment lobby.

    Youve made me look up australian literature now on wikipedia and I realize Ive still alot to learn and read.
    add Clive James and Tim Winton and elizabeth jolley and Mary Durack  australian writers..
    Berkuwski on American realism ( dark)add many other novels by mainstream US culture from Joan Collins to the Dice Man..etc

    Satre  on existentialism.. and on and on..
