If you’re searching for a gift for a toddler, consider a tea set. Sure, this is a traditional toy, but they’re still just as much fun today as they were decades ago! Tiny tots have a blast playing with these sets, and they make great birthday gifts and great Christmas gifts for any toddler girl on your list. My childhood friends and I spent hours and hours preparing for and having tea parties. Sometimes we'd invite our parents and/or older siblings over as guests. We'd often play dressup in combination with out fancier tea parties. We'd raid our mothers' closets and adorn ourselves in dresses, mink stoles, pearls, earrings, and hats. We'd even hobble around in high heels that were much too big for us. Playing with our tea sets gave us many opportunities for role playing, too.

Tea sets that are especially designed for toddlers are usually different than tea sets designed with little girls in mind. The toddler tea sets are safe for children under the age of three, with no small parts that might present a choking hazard. These tea sets are almost always made of plastic or acrylic, too, and they come in bright colors or patterns to appeal to the toddler girl.

Handling and playing with the different items in the tea set can also help the child’s small motor development and hand-eye coordination. A toddler girl can enjoy playing with the tea set alone or with a friend. And of course, the toddler girl’s stuffed animals are sure to be frequent guests at any tea party she might host!

My daughters always had tea sets when they were young, just as I did. I gave one of my granddaughters a tea set last Christmas, when she was three years old, and she has thoroughly enjoyed it. She often uses the tea set when she has little friends over to play. Along with the tea set, she also got some play food, so the two Christmas gifts go together well. Sometimes she requests that her snacks be served on the plates from her tea set!

Tea sets for toddlers come in a wide range of colors and patterns. The tea sets are also available in a wide price range. The ones that come with utensils have large knives, forks, and spoons that are large enough for toddlers to handle easily. Most of these tea sets are tough and durable, too, and they can take the rough play that toddlers are capable of “dishing” out. Most can just be popped into the dishwasher, and some are even musical.

You can find toddler tea sets in most Walmart and Kmart stores, and of course, toy stores always keep them in stock because of their popularity. But if you like shopping online, you can buy tea sets for toddlers without leaving home. You’ll also have a wider selection of tea sets by shopping online, and it’s easy to compare different tea sets side by side on your computer.

Check out the tea sets and story books about tea parties offered for sale below. Most are priced below the recommended retail price!

Aw, how cute is that? I would never have thought they even made tea sets for toddlers, but this is something I can imagine I would have loved as a little one. Looks like a great way of stimulating imagination.
