A Touch of Magic in My Fairy Garden Fantasy

Wee Folks and A History of Hope

Fairies, pixies, elves and wee folks, have spawned mystery, magic and imagination throughout the history of mankind. This idea of miniature people with magical powers is prevalent in cultures across the globe. They call them gnomes, goblins and fay, people of peace with supernatural powers. Okay, now being an aging, adult, artist with time on my hands to spend growing a vegetable garden maybe I find myself reverting to the so called "second childhood". Ah Ha! I can relate to that in more ways than one.

The economy has gone to hell in the USA and many other places across this old Earth. I too am growing older. Not to mind any of it. I have a very positive outlook on life. It keeps me spirits up and me garden a growing. I planted a very late crop of beans and peas with that positive attitude of faith in Mother Nature. My late plantings are looking real good with a ton of blooms slowly turning into my winter food supply.

Yes I did call on the magical powers of the Fairy Folks to help me through this rough spot in the economy. I called out loud and strong. My call came with a spirit that is much needed at this time of uncertainty. Fairy gardens I say. They are good for the soul. They lend a bit of fantasy to an otherwise bleak situation. They call for HOPE and FAITH and a certain POSITIVE IMAGINATION. That is what I feel I must do as an artist. Seek out that which is good and hopeful. It is my responsibility.

A Natural Creative Progression

Hooked By The Miniature Fantasy World

You know it never hurts to have a little hope, a little faith and a BIG IMAGINATION. I actually have found myself making a living from these very attributes and it has been a marvelous manifestation for my spiritual connection. I am motivated more than I have ever been before. There is a driving force within that keeps me pushing just a little harder, a little longer and I am doing it with a smile in my heart. The miniature artwork I am pursuing has me in a whirl of joy filled emotion.

This goodness is contagious and that is my blessing. As I work in my art studio I find myself engulfed in a feeling that is like no other I have felt before. I am driven, surprised, impressed and elated at what seems to be making a very natural progression in my creative productions. Mother Nature is my mentor. She offers me one of a kind materials that only she can provide. Driftwood and bark, Spanish Moss and stones for the taking have my creative nature on fire. The truth is I could work 24/7 if my body could hold up to it, but that is not the case. I do have to pace myself.

Fantasy and magic flow freely in this new found love for miniature crafting. Tiny pieces of furniture, mystical monsters and magical manifestations keep my heart in a smile and bring happiness to the hearts of so many others. The escape from a real world filled with heartache and sorrow makes my new found addiction my calling.

Working with Natural Materials for Fairy Garden Miniature Collectibles

One of my favorite materials of all time is driftwood. I love the feel of it, the way it looks and the fact that every single piece is unique. No two pieces are ever alike. Driftwood makes me happy. There is something about the survival of each piece, the wear and tear from the elements and the time involved in Mother Nature creating the driftwood that keeps me always hunting for more. I just simply love driftwood.

I like to wood burn on it and design with it.I like painting it and decorating it and I honestly have to say I think it is the best thing that ever happened to this artist. I like the way it looks but more often I like the way it flows with a primitive grace. It is magical and mysterious and it is the perfect material for making miniature Fairy Garden Collectibles. Driftwood carried me to the miniature art world in an evolutionary stride. The driftwood is a natural and the wee folk artwork just seems to go right along the way.

Fantasy, imagination, and a promise of hope and supernatural powers are just part of the natural progression. My Adrift Art Studio was wiped out by Mother Nature just three years ago, I lost almost everything to a serious flood. Yet my good Earth Mother has so kindly granted me a path to follow and the path is filled with magic and the magic is the gift of the Fairy Garden Peace Folks. God Bless Each and every one of them!
