How to Type Fast in Facebook's Typing Maniac Game

Updated on August 30, 2009

If you are an avid Facebook user,  very likely you may have noticed the several applications available for the purpose of entertaining people world wide. Among the applications there are several quite addicting games that have millions of user hooked on for most of the day. Typing maniac is one of the favorites with several users playing just for the fun of it or with the goal of speeding up their typing skills in mind. Regardless of your purpose, Typing Maniac will challenge you to get those fingers moving!

It all starts with the image of a student in a library sitting in front of a typewriter. Once the game starts, several words will start dropping down. You must write the words as they start falling. The student will start typing at the same time you do. Your goal should be to type thefastest you can, before the words touch the floor.

If you pass, you will see the results of your typing speed displayed. You will see your accuracy percentage, the presence of any bonuses and your total score. At this point don't think the game is too easy, as the words will start dropping faster and faster as you advance in level. However, there are several power ups that may come to the rescue if you are getting quite overwhelmed.

Simply look in the right corner where there is a pile of books. On top of these books are your rescue words which should start appearing at the third level of the game. Type these words and you may be able to regain composure for a few seconds. For instance, typing the word ''fire'' will be of great help when your screen is getting full of too many words. Type it up and several words will finally disintegrate out of nowhere. Typing the word ''ice'' will freeze up some words allowing you to take a breather for a few seconds. The word ''slow'' will calm things down a bit and the word ''wind'' will blow away the words that are starting to pile up on your working station.

What makes this game challenging is not only the fact that the words come down faster and faster but also the fact that the words as well, start getting longer and longer!  You may get quite overwhelmed at times and this is when you want to take full advantage of your power ups.

Every now and then you may notice several dark tiles coming down. These are words that you must type correctly right away or the rate of the words falling down will significantly increase. The tiles that are light blue when typed correctly will give you an ice power up, those that are orange will give a fire power up, those that are purple will give a wind power up.

How to Focus Better

I have found that it is much easier to concentrate when I take the music off. The music sort of started to overwhelm me at one point. The music button can be found on the top right corner and can be disabled with one click. Once the music is off you will only hear yourself typing. You can also completely mute the game if you wish.

Seeing several words falling from the ceiling can also be overwhelming, try not to look around too much or you may get stressed out. Rather, try to focus on one area  and type the words that flow in that area. Try your best to save your power ups for when you really need them.

With time, if you are a loyal player, you may notice that overall your typing skills and accuracy may have improved. This is thanks to your eye-hand coordination skills. Play often, and you may ultimately even get that job of your dreams because you score incredibly high in your typing test! Happy typing!
