This is the computer build I am currently doing to play Civilization 5 on:
* Intel Core-i5 2500 3.3 GHz Sandy Bridge quad core CPU
* AMD 6850 1GB Graphics card
* 120GB G.Skill Phoenix Pro SSD (Sandforce)
* 4GB DDR3 RAM
* Mini-ITX motherboard with Wi-Fi and USB 3.0
* Lian-Li PC-Q08 mini-ITX case (red)
* Samsung C9000 46" LED TV @ 1080p
Cost excluding TV is under 1k. I hope to have it finished later this month... I will update here with my findings, but I expect to be able to play at highest graphics settings including 2-4xAA.
These are the requirements:
Operating System: Windows® XP SP3/ Windows® Vista SP2/ Windows® 7
Processor: Dual Core CPU
Memory: 2GB RAM
Hard Disk Space: 8 GB Free
DVD-ROM Drive: Required for disc-based installation
Video: 256 MB ATI HD2600 XT or better, 256 MB nVidia 7900 GS or better, or Core i3 or better integrated graphics
Sound: DirectX 9.0c-compatible sound card
DirectX®: DirectX® version 9.0c
That's not that demanding, really. I think just about any of the refurbished laptops here http://www.cheetahdeals.com/Refurbished … s_s/25.htm can play the game.
