Gift Ideas for 6th Graders

Sixth grade is a transition year for boys and girls. Boys are still into video games and probably more so in 6th grade. Girls are starting to explore their independence with clothes and hair styles.

There are a lot of interesting educational toys and gifts for 6th graders. Besides the normal vocabulary and math computer games, which they will rarely play unless there is an incentive. Weird science kits have become popular with smelly science, and even sweet science.

One thing a girl needs around sixth grade is a purse. There are many types of purses such as Vera Bradley, Jessica Simpson, and Rikki Knight. It's interesting as my daughters have both received and given purses to their friends recently.

As kids go into middle school and high school their lives start to get more complicated. My kids middle and elementary school hands out organizers to each student. For schools that don't, these make great gifts.

By 6th grade, lego sets have lost their charm, however large building toys like K'nex are a great way for to start learning about STEM philosophies, especially those dealing with physics..

Whether you like fighting games, adventure games, or sports games, there is a great video game for every sixth grader. Nintendo Punch Out is one of my favorite games, followed closely by lego video games.

We are still keeping our son away from all the blood and guts games at this age.
