Eat your way to better health

There are many things a person can do to live a healthy lifestyle, I have listed four steps to get healthy and fit. When were young being healthy, eating healthy and living healthy is not such a big issue. Simply because when we’re young we have so much energy that everything seems easy and doable.

Unfortunately that is not the case as you start to age, and all other pressures start to pile on, stress increases, un-healthy eating and almost sedentary lifestyle takes grip and before you know it, the simplest of tasks seems so hard to complete.

The tips for better health listed below can help you achieve a healthier lifestyle and will aid in the process of getting fitter and regain your youthful vitality again.

What are the steps to get Healthy?

Have you heard of the words “You are what you eat”?  - Most likely yes.

We eat more processed food than ever before as a society, this food contains so many different kinds of additives that many of us probably won’t be able to pronounce the names let alone understand what they are or how they affect our bodies once consumed.

STEP1 - to a healthy you starts with, the food you eat. Good nutrition is important. You are what you eat...remember.

Always try to improve your eating habits, eating more of the good foods.  Your diet should include fresh Vegetables, Fruits and one or more of the following nuts, berries, peanut butter, olive oil, and whole grains.  Make a good attempt cutting down on the processed foods and saturated fat, hydrogenated oils, etc.

STEP2 - should be looking at and being mindful of your intake of Nutritional Supplements. These are vital; many of us are lacking in the RDA (recommended daily allowance) amounts of Vitamins and Minerals.

Vitamins and Minerals are crucial to a healthy body and very beneficial, especially when combined with healthy eating habits. For us to get all the nutrients the body needs through food alone is very difficult, the best way to make sure that we are supplying our body with the correct levels of Vitamins and Minerals is to combine proper nutrition with nutritional supplements. I would recommend that you get into the habit of taking a multivitamin on a daily basis.

When you have completely adopted the above two steps, that’s half the job done. Now we can look at the next two steps.

STEP3 – Adequate Sleep and reduce Stress. There are so many people who cannot achieve the recommended seven to eight hours of sleep per night, and that can have a detrimental effect on your overall health if you suffer from lack of sleep for long periods of time.

The other element is the Stress levels that you maintain on a day-to-day basis. If you find that you are unable to relax and are always on the edge with everything, losing temper at the slightest of chance then you most probably suffering stress related symptoms and really need to look at managing you stress.

Stress management and getting good sleep every night is crucial to a better health. Until you find a way to manage or reduce your stress levels, it will continue to do damage to your body and mind.

The best ways to start managing stress is to manage your time and priorities; you might want to implement a to-do list that would help you manage your daily chores in an efficient manner.

Getting adequate sleep each night is equally important when you consider your body uses this time to repair itself. You should aim between seven and eight hours at least each night.

STEP4 – the last of the four steps to get healthy is Regular Exercise. There are so many benefits of exercising, regular physical activity can help improve your stamina, increase feel good hormones in your body therefore reducing stress and the exercise also helps in increasing fresh blood and oxygen flows in your body. You should aim to exercise 3-4 times a week and maintain an active life, so instead of taking the lift up to your office walk up the stairs, instead of sitting in front of the TV after work, take a walk outside for 30mins.

Always try to take the physical option rather than the automatic method, what I mean is don’t take your car to the shop round the corner from your house when you can walk there and save money in the process (considering how expensive petrol is these days). Don’t be idle and rely on your wife to do all the cooking, get involved and help her do the cooking, that you you’ll have more control over what you eat and it’ll be fun.

So to summarise the tips for better health and a healthy stress-less lifestyle you need to adopt and maintain the following four steps:
