A Look Inside Me Part 2

Updated on August 9, 2012

Me being Me

This is me in the local blockbuster; I love movies!

Before We Dive In...

If you have happened to stop by and have read this hub's predecessor, you will know that I delved into some personal facts about my life and family that have worked together to mold me into the man I am today. If you have not read the prequel, do not worry, for this hub does not continue that line of thought. Instead I decided that it would be neat to change things up and offer my readers some interesting facts about me. So, sit back, and relax. Oh before you sit down, grab a cup of coffee and put on a comfy pair slippers, and most important of all, do enjoy!

Josh and Jon

Splittin' Image

Yes, I have idenitcal twin brother name Jon. We are two minutes apart, unfortunately for me though, he is the older one. I was going to come out first, but my mom needed a C-section, which caused my brother to come out first. Our whole family jokes about this scenario. Another interesting fact is that I would have been named Jon, because the first one to pop out was going to receive that name. But, that was not the case, so I was given the name Josh. Ever since that day when we immersed into the place we all inhabit called the world, my brother and I have been extremely competitive. Me being the best at everything, of course! Just kidding, we are fairly close in everything, If anything he might come out on top by a smidgen.

Favorite Foods

(I am a recent college graduate, and living with my brother, so don't judge my eating habbits)

1. Mac n' Cheese

2. Breakfast Food (I could eat breakfast for any meal, any time of day. Besides, it is not hard to cook!)

For anyone who is slightly confused, let me clear things up. No one one in this picture is me! Ok, let's move on.

Current Occupation

I am currently working in the hotel industry as a Front Desk Associate, and I have been for almost a year now. I enjoy working in the customer service industry because I love to be around people! In fact, I am working right now as I am typing this hub...Shhh, don't tell my manager!

I am hoping to move up in the area of sales for now and accomplish the feat of which I refer to as eliminating my student loans!

Furry Members Of The Family!

My family currently owns four dogs! Their names are Bengi, Willie, Suzie, and Mandy! They are so adorable and are such a blessing to our family!

Favorite Holiday

Christmas! Why? Because I love being with family! Ok, I have to admit, the presents are a pretty good incentive! :)

Music

I can withstand pretty much any type of music, but the kind of music I enjoy the most is a cappella. I love the harmonies it presents, and the challenge it brings to the table. A cappella music is dear to my heart for which I will explain in the next category,so don't leave yet! A cappella, in my opinion, is the most challenging type of music because you don't have the music to back you up. You are all alone and rely on your counterparts to support you.

Some of my singing buddies! Jon is on the far left.
Some of my singing buddies! Jon is on the far left. | Source

Why a cappella?

As I just promised, the reason why a cappella is so dear to me, is because I had the awesome opportunity to travel for a year with a group of ten guys(including my brother) singing a cappella and southern gospel music all around the east coast of the United States, as well as Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras. This was an awesome experience and probably one of the biggest impacts on my life up to date. But those stories are for another time, perhaps another hub down the road(Josh thinks to himself...hmmmm) I love to sing and have been in choirs and vocal groups as long as I can remember.(In fact, I should ask my mother, I was probably singing on the hospital table, to I'm Alive by Celine Dion after I popped out. Another joke folks)

Favorite Movies

(Not necessarily in any given order)

1. Shawshank Redemption

2. Inception

3. Dark Knight

4. The Departed

5. The Prestige

Christopher Nolan

Favorite Movie Director

My favorite movie director at least up to date, would have to be Christopher Nolan, because of his ability to make his audience think. Several of his movies have complicated plots and twists which i enjoy, because I do not like a movie to be "spoon-fed" to me. I appreciate the idea of being able to think for myself and to wonder what is going to happen next.

Favorite Actors

1. Emma Stone

2. Julia Roberts

3. Ryan Goslin

4. Leonardo DiCaprio

Favorite Sports Teams

1. Boston Redsox (MLB)

2. New England Patriots (NFL)

3. Uconn Huskies (NCAA)

4. I don't have a favorite NBA team, and don't really follow any other sports.

Favorite Book

The Count of Monte Cristo

Favorite TV Series

1. 24

2. Psych

3. White Collar

Fears

I don't have any! (Just kidding)

1. Tarantulas

2. Not knowing the future (If only I could be like that one guy in the old TV show, Early Edition)

What I Despise

1. The Yankees :)

2. When the Redsox lose to the Yankees (are you getting the hint)

Places I Have Traveled to Oustide the US

1. Honduras

2. Guatemala

3. El Salvador

4. Hungary

5.Jamaica

6. Canada

7. England(This is unofficial techincally, because we had a layover on one of our flights. However, my brother and I ran outside quickly and kissed the pavement to make it official, so there, no one can argue witn me :) )

Place I want to Visit

1. Cedar Point

2. Disneyworld

3.England(besides the pavement)

4. France

6. Israel

7. Italy

8. Germany

Near to Death Experience

On the way back to college one night, my brother and I, and five of our friends were crowded in a Subaru Outback. (mistake # 1) My brother and best friend Jeremy were lying in the hatchback. (mistake #2) The driver, Gillian was fooling around. (mistake #3) Gillian was going near 90 mph on the highway.(mistake #4) Gillian decided to be funny and swerve a little bit and over corrected to regain balance. (mistake #5) One thing led to another and before we could even think, the car flipped over several times at least three, causing my brother and Jeremy to be ejected across the four lane highway several hundred feet into a ditch. Even to this day I am in complete awe to be able to say that we all were fine except for about 30 stitches all together. God was definitely watching over us that night. The EMT's and doctors were shocked out of their minds and said we all should of been dead for sure! I am so lucky to be alive! That was a major learning experience, and turning point in my life; and I am so thankful to God for that event. Because it taught me to respect my life and to never take advantage of my opportunites here on Earth.

Amazing Experience

Please refer to the picture and caption below!

Aspirations

1. To always be grateful for my twin brother. He has been such an awesome part of my life, and sometimes I lose sight of that.

2. Have an amazing family some day!

3. Earn tons of money on HubPages :)

Special Thanks to Sharon(aka Sharyn's Slant)

Sharon has no idea I am giving her a shoutout here. But the reason I am, is because I read her introduction hub today which was awesome! It gave me the idea to write one myself. I decided the least I could do was thank her. So here it is, Thanks so much Sharon! If you do not know who Sharon is, or have not read her hub, check it out. You will learn quite a bit about her! Again thanks Sharon!

Before I Say So Long...

Below this section, I have posted a video of myself, brother and best friend Nathan performing a lip sync at our college which gave us 1st place. I figured I would show this, so you can learn a little more about me. You may have some questions and concerns upon watching it, but that is ok :) I am sure you will enjoy!

Disclaimer: We tried our best to be as flambouyant as possible.

One Rule: Please don't judge my character on this video, because it will give you a completely inaccurate view of who I really am! :)

Josh, this was great! I loved the video, it's nice when people don't take life to seriously and get have fun like that. I agree that breakfast food is great any time of the day and a cappella is the best kind of music. I will say you have an unfortunate taste in sports teams but I guess no one is perfect ;-). Go Yankees! ::ducks head to avoid objects being thrown::

HAHAHAHA!!! I love your introduction as to who came first (Splittin' Image) and your singing career on the hospital table, with a very nice choice of song, I'm Alive.

Maybe you should let us hear you sing J! You can post a video here in HP. Ohh,,many hubbers would love that! (i do like music too but music thinks Im not good enough.hehe, that's why music banned me on the line).

Anyway, I've enjoyed reading this Part 2 :)

PS: You look a lot like your brother. Lol :)

Josh - You have blown me away! You already impressed me with your wonderful outlook and your warm sese of humor, beautiful writing. But the life you have led, still being so young! Wow - You are going to do more great things. Your accomplishments will never end and the sky is the limit.

The places you have seen are beautiful. The supervisor who will go down as the best I ever worked for sang capella and we have seen him perform many times. I would love more video. This was such a happy and giggling video you shared. My face hurts from smiling and laughing. I'll take that hurt any day.

I can't wait to read more about this intersting life of such an intersting and accomplished young man.

And is I find out you EVER do something as stupid as the Subaru incident, I'm telling your mother.

Blessing and sincerest of thank you's for this.

Keep going Josh - You have such a bright future ahead of you. I hoep you have some sunglasses. XO

I bow before you Master Josh! The video is beautiful! It is so cool to see you performing...you are so alive in front of the audience. You are so alive online. You exemplify everything that is wonderful about life and I am proud to be your online uncle.

You are one of a kind, unique from the day you were born to the day you die; never treat that as anything other than the true gift it is.

I am smiling Josh; you have made me very happy today. This is a testament to the beauty that is life.

Hey Josh ~ well this was great! Thank you so much for the shout out. Damn, I didn't have a video to post with mine :) I certainly enjoyed yours though! It was great to learn so much more about you. I must go back and read more.

So, tell me, seriously, CEDAR POINT is on your list of places you wish to visit? Well it's close to home for me and I can tell you it is not anything like the other places on your wish list. But it certainly is easily attainable though. It's a nice park, great rides and very clean. And you could stop by from PA through OH and pick me up. I wouldn't do the scary rides so I could be the one that holds everyone's "stuff!" Thanks for the fun read.

      1. "hospital table, I'm Alive by Celine Dion after I popped out." -add ' to 'Alive' by Celine Dion.

      2. "Several of his movies have complicating plots and twists..." -consider changing 'complicating' to 'complicated.'

      3. What country is "Englabnd?" :)

      4. "One thing led to another and before we could even think the car flipped..." - consider adding a comma: "One thing led to another and before we could even think, the car flipped..."

      5. After watching the video, please never admit to being my friend in public. (KIDDING)

OMG, Josh! Where do I begin?

Part 1 of getting to know you was admirable. You put your family first, despite the hurdles. Not many young people would have done that.

This edition, however, speaks of the person you are today despite and because of what you dealt with as a very young person. I must say I'm in total awe.

Firstly, how did you come to visit all the countries you did (and go to college, for that matter) given the hardships with which you grew up? Seriously, how did you come to travel? I come from parents who achieved wealth, while raising us, through a determination to overcome the poverty in which they were raised, and I've never been outside the US.

On a side note, I too love music. It's the universal language and I agree, acappella is the most phenonimal music because it needs no accompaniment from musical instruments. The harmonies are awesome!

Now, let me get to the real point. First, do not apologize for your flamboyance in the video. The fact that at your young age you're not afraid to sing praises to the Lord and that you are demonstrative about it, is amazing, commendable and brave!

Too many of us adults have severed our ties with our Faith, choosing instead, monetary gain and worth. Too many of today's youth are not raised knowing, let alone claiming Jesus as our Saviour. Do you have any idea how strong you are in choosing to embrace your faith and being so strong in your testament that you sing about it? In front of others? In today's environment?

Please post your group's videos. I'm sure they will be shared. I'm now seeing your true soul, not just the fun loving "joshing" Josh. I LOVE what I see! You give promise to this world. Your strength in your faith and sharing it thru song is the way to change this world. People listen to music. They move to music. Words can be interpreted any way the listener needs to hear. Remember Amy Grant? She entered the music world as a Christian singer. She eventually became heard on soft rock and country stations because her words of love can be applied to human love between humans. What is so remarkable is, her love for God spread to the music world outside Christian music. Eventually, her intent will be absorbed. That, my friend is what you have to offer. Your music can bring society back to that which propels us to live together, love one another and stop the hate and self-annihilation. God as given you a gift, my friend. It's powerful. Use it. Spread it. We need it!

OK, two more comments. Firstly, how did you come to travel the world? Through your faith? I'm thinking so. You are a vessel to spread God's Word and he has opened unbelievable opportunities to you. Grab them and do Him proud.

Secondly, I now see you don't need a Fairy Godmother. The wings on which you fly are of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Call me a kindred soul, grab my hand and let me fly with you. Sometimes I need the help. Sing to my heart my friend!

Brave!!! I am speechless! NO joke! I have no idea waht to say! You are so awesome brave, I can not even think of words to describe who you are to me right now! That was the best comment/compliment/encouraging sentiment I have been given in quite some time...I am grinning from ear to ear and shocked! That meant so much to me!

Again brave thanks so much, I wish I could I could say more, but don't what to say! :)

I was able to travel to all those places on misions trips in college and during the year that I sang! Jamaica was my senior class trip, and Canda with my youth group!

I would post our videos but our recording CD has not been published yet nd the videos we have are not the greatest quality. :(

I absolutely loved this. Absolutley funny. I might have to do something similiar to this because I think these types of hubs are so much more fun. Oh - BTW - I love the picture of you at work (just kidding!)

And the video was pretty cool but it was hard to pick out faces... which one were you? Great job and fun hub!

      Stacey,

Thanks for your encouragement on this hub! LOL regarding your comment about my picture at work! :) I was the one in the black jacket, started on the left. Thanks for commenting Stacey!

Nice ones Josh. very nicely written. Reminded me a little of hero of that classic of fifties -the catcher on the rye.

Your simplicity directness in style of expression, is a big pleasure
