Bring It: P90X Day 55

Updated on April 30, 2012

P90X is an extreme workout program created by Tony Horton. But, even the most extreme of workouts deserve a break. That is why there is recovery week - a chance to take a break from the hard core lifting and throw in a little core work. This is how P90X works - by the concept of muscle confusion. The recovery week gives your body a break and helps it rejuvinate and rebuild!

If you would like to start from the beginning of this series, please click here. If you want to read about my previous day with P90X, click here.

Feel free to leave your comments below. Without your extra kick in the pants, I am not sure I would have gotten as far as I have in this personal journey! Thank you for your support!

Bring It

Today I am making an executive decision. That is right - I am the CEO in the company called My Health and it gives me the power to make such a decision. That means today I am switching out my workout day.

This is my Recovery Week. That means this is a jump down from the normal hard-core workouts (at least that is what I have been told! I still don't believe it. I think it is just as hard, if not harder than the regular week!) Because of that, my normal Kenpo workout will return next week and today on the schedule is Yoga.

But - I have made the executive decision not to do Yoga today. Why you may ask after 55 days of working out - because I just don't have the time or the energy. So what I am going to do is switch my workout out with tomorrow's day of rest. So today I am resting - and tomorrow I will do Yoga before starting Phase 3!

I don't consider this a failure in my motivation - I consider this letting life happen. Sometimes it does and we have to accomodate to make things work for us. I am tired today - and if were to do Yoga, I know I wouldn't be putting forth my best effort.

How about you...

Have you been to Vegas?

See results

So, if you have been following my journey - you know I was in Las Vegas yesterday. I got my workout in and I got my hub published and I got on the road. It was about a four hour drive. When we got there, we did a bunch of exploring.

Needless to say, it was a late (but fun) night and when you are in Vegas sleep is overated! So, today as we returned home, we are a bit tired!

I will be back tomorrow. But just remember, to keep moving on and modify to life's forks in the road. After all, the trip to Vegas was a great way to rejuvinate and I would rather switch my workouts out then to have just stayed home!

@Daffy Duck - I will gladly donate - 5 bucks. I am horrible when it comes to casinos. I do it for the game not the money. I just want one of those machines so I can play it over and over again. It doesn't have to pay out - I just want to play the game. That is why I stick to a budget! Otherwise it gets dangerous! LOL

BBG: As long as you're donating money why not give some to the needy. I'll gladly take it off your hands :)

@Danette - Vegas was definately a blast! We had so much fun... and we walked for probably at least 2 hours just exploring. I am sure I got more than my share of exercise. I had good intentions but by the time we got home, and with staying up late, I was too exhausted and knew that I would give it my best to really make for a good workout. I knew I would do much better switching it up. Thanks for your support. I did get my workout in today - and now I feel great. Ready to jump back into the hard stuff tomorrow!

Sounds like a blast in Vegas, it's been about 30 years since I was there and I'm sure I didn't see any caged women in trucks back then LOL. I agree, though, you don't seem like a slacker to me and I would think switching up one time to accommodate recuperating from Vegas is ok. Besides, just think of all the muscles you're still exercising from laughing and smiling at the memory of your Vegas fun.

@Real - You mean St. Louis doesn't have woman caged in trucks driving the main drag for you to purchase at your own leisure! Shocker! LOL - it is crazy the stuff that you see in Vegas. Next time I go I want to have a point and click so I can carry more than my phone camera around. There were so many pictures I would have taken otherwise! We had such a blast... and boy were my legs sore the next day! As for me having more energy than you... ha ha - I swear I saw you do some impromptu jumping around. Workout accomplished! LOL

@Daffy Duck - I was in shock too... never thought I would need a recovery day from Vegas! I mean seriousl... who needs one from drinking and partying and laughing and exploring and all you can eat buffets! LOL

As for the winning - we were up 35 and then I donated it back to the casino.... along with an extra 5. I can't say that is too bad! :)

Thanks for the reminder - I will try to stay out of the habit of switching days. I don't like doing it because it throws me off track... so if it happens again... you have permission to kick me! :)

@Myth - It was a needed break. Besides - it worked out good cause I am on recovery week so... I .... recovered. Ha ha - I will start strong again on Monday, because that will be exciting. After all, that is the start of my final month of P90X and I can't wait to see the difference at the end. I almost there... so darn close! I can feel it! LOL

BBG - I think you actually worked out more than usual because we walked so much! You have way more energy than me but I've got 10 years in age on you so I am going to be nice to myself and cut myself some slack:) haha! That was crazy! We saw some stuff I'd never see here...I thought St. Louis was radical but not nearly as insane as Vegas.

Wow what an eyeful we got! The only thing that could have been better was if we had stuck it rich at the casino:)

You have to recover from being in Vegas? What a shocker! :) I've never been there, but I've heard some good things about it. So, how much did you win/lose? Be honest.

Remember to try not to make it a habbit of switching days of workouts with days off. Before you know it you're doing it all the time because it's easier and not because life just happens. I know this all too well. :)

Well this comes as no surprise ;-) You party in Vegas... there is no way in any world that you would get your workout in! If you were just doing a jog around the block you might succeed, but not something like P90! Still you are doing so amazing... as long as you actually go through with your workout today, you will not have lost any ground! I hope I have time to read through the hubs this week... I'm so crazy busy! I don't know how I managed to make it here at all! Well off to do some homework before I leave for work in half hour! Good luck and keep up the good work :-)
