Lose Weight Easily: Food Choices

Lets face it being hungry all the time is no fun. If you wish to stay on your diet, it is of importance to eat filling but also tasty food, as it lessens your temptations to reach for unhealthy and calorie laden choices.

One can find a specific fad weight loss diet of every venue, with serious promises of quick weight loss. You can try the low carb, fruit only, egg and grapefruit diet. The realistic fact is that there is no magic bullet to losing weight or inspire someone to eat low calorie and healthful foods. Filling foods for diets will help the dieter get through the day without hunger. Being hungry is the kiss of death with all diets. Eat often with small snacks and you will avoid those difficult hunger pangs. A rumbling in the stomach means a quick trip to the refrigerator or pantry, so train that hunger into reaching for healthy produce.

What Kind of Salads

Salads can be very fattening. Beware of those heavily laden salad bars that are loaded with salty nuts, fatty cheese, thick salad dressings and bacon which will sabotage any diet.

Load up the plate with dark greens, vegetables, tuna and chicken. Use only oil and vinegar dressing. Eating healthy salads are great for diets, as they keep you busy eating for a long period of time. Try to have a large salad everyday and you will be helping the weight loss process.

Between Meal Snacks to Stave off Hunger

Best snack foods:

  • Handful of nuts
  • A bowl of berries
  • An apple
  • Celery with peanut butter
  • Veggies with yogurt dip
  • A piece of string cheese
  • A piece of chicken or turkey
  • One-half cup of cottage cheese

You can be among the many happy people losing weight easily without feeling hungry. This will help you reach your weight loss goals.

Low Fat Protein

When hunger hits and you are craving some protein eat a hard boiled egg, one-half of chicken breast, two heaping tablespoons of cottage cheese or a small can of sardines. All of these foods will ease your hunger and are also healthful choices.

What to Drink to Stave off Hunger

Try a glass of tomato or V8 juice before you have a meal. You will feel less hungry, therefore you will eat less food. A warm cup of chicken broth will also ease the hunger pangs. Drink a lot of water between meals as it is helpful in reducing hunger and also keep you well hydrated.

Before Bedtime

Night time is when many people get hungry after settling down for the night. Somehow watching TV and eating a snack go together. It is not just about a growling stomach ,but that habit snack that you have developed over the years. Avoid eating anything with sugar as it could disrupt your sleep. Try a couple of tablespoons of cottage cheese, as protein will often satisfy that rumble of hunger. The calcium and magnesium in the cottage cheese will also help you sleep while you are losing weight.

      Blythe, Please enjoy your ranch dressing I always do. And cheese, how can you resist? But oil and vinegar does have lots less calories and fat. Sorry about that. However, a little ranch goes a long way. Thanks for dropping in.

      I can't do tomato juice or V8 because I have peptic ulcers. Any other suggestions? Also, I've lost about 150 pounds and I eat the ranch dressing! I figure two or three tablespoons of the stuff is still better than eating a Double Quarter Pounder and it encourages me to eat raw veggies! :)

      Good for you having so much discipline. Another appetite depressor is having a cup of warm chicken or beef broth. You have your ranch dressing and enjoy it. It happens to be my favorite also. Thanks so much.

      Carol, thank you for reminding us once again of the healthful choices we have at hand. I have a health issue that is causing me to have weight issues which soon will be repaired. I would rather not go into the details but I have battled weight gain in recent years and now find it is something that has been out of my control.       Great suggestions. I have had great results for myself, by following several of these ideas. It took time to incorporate vegetables into my diet in a significant way, but by doing so I have lost weight and feel better as well. I start the day off with two full glasses of water, sometimes it is hard to get the second one down, but it has helped me not be as hungry in the morning and craving a heavy carb breakfast since I am avoiding that.

      These are great tips...I especially liked your tips on snacking. My hubby and I recently lost quite a bit of weight...we simply stopped eating fast and processed foods! It was easy to do because it was change our diet or suffer health related consequences. Voted up.
