Flu(swine) H1N1

Updated on February 16, 2011

What is H1N1 flu?

It is a respiratory (upper respiratory tract) illness with symptoms similar to the ordinary seasonal flu although, it could be more severe.

An influenza pandemic is a flu outbreak that is being spread worldwide and is considered extremely serious. It occurs when an animal or bird virus is mixed with a human virus and a new strain develops.

The outbreak was presumably, first detected in Mexico City on March 18, 2009 and appears to have been ongoing before this aforementioned date.

It is spread through droplets contained in sneezes and coughs and by hand contact from someone who has the virus.

The symptoms

The symptoms include headache, chills and cough followed by fever, loss of appetite, muscle aches and fatigue, runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes and throat irritation. Nausea, vomiting and diarrhea may also occur.

Young children, pregnant women, and people of any age with certain chronic medical conditions, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems are most susceptible to the virus.  It could affect people who do not normally suffer as much from the seasonal flu, such as younger, healthy adults.

How Long?

Someone with the flu can be contagious for 1 to 2 days before any symptoms show up and for 5 days after the start of symptoms.

Anti-virals are used to treat influenza infection for the seriously ill but a 2009 H1N1vaccine will be available for the current flu season.

Warning signs:

In children, emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:

  • Fast breathing or trouble breathing
  • Bluish or gray skin color
  • Not drinking enough fluids
  • Severe or persistent vomiting
  • Not waking up or not interacting
  • Being so irritable that the child does not want to be held
  • Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough

In adults, emergency warning signs that need urgent medical attention include:

  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
  • Sudden dizziness
  • Confusion
  • Severe or persistent vomiting
  • Flu-like symptoms improve but then return with fever and worse cough

Tips to contain the spread of Flu or the common cold: (info courtesy Health Canada)

Good hand hygiene is the best way to prevent the spread of all flu viruses. Washhands for 15 seconds or more, with soap and water or sanitizer thoroughly and often. Wash fingertips, between fingers, back of hands and base of thumbs.

Keep an alcohol-based sanitizer (gel or wipes) handy at work, home and in your car. It needs to be at least 60% alcohol to be effective.

Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and dispose of tissue. Cough into your upper sleeve if you don't have a tissue.

Avoid large crowds of people where viruses can spread easily. Stay home when you are sick.

Keep common surfaces and items clean and disinfected.

4 Alternative remedies for keeping your immune system healthy

· Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceus): Antiviral and immunity-enhancer. Take this every day to build up your resistance

· Garlic (Allium sativum): Antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, and anticancer. Eat it raw too.

· Echinacea (Echinacea purpurea): Antibiotic, antiviral and immune-enhancer. Take it as soon as you notice a cold coming on and continue until it’s gone.

· Oil of Oregano (Origanum Vulgare): Antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, and antiparasitic oil that can reduce pain and inflammation and effectively fight off infections.

It's been shown that Vitamin D is good for keeping the flu away.

The talk----another side

It seems that there is more going on with the H1N1 Swine flu.

After presenting the information that is available, take a look at what else is being said about the H1N1 /Swine Flu. Could it be possible?

It means an infected bird from North America would have had to infect pigs in Europe, then be re-infected by those same pigs with an unlikely cross-species mutation that allowed the bird to carry it again, then that bird would have had to fly to Asia and infected pigs there, and those Asian pigs then mutated the virus once again (while preserving the European swine and bird flu elements) to become human transmittable, and then a human would have had to catch that virus from the Asian pigs -- in Mexico! -- and spread it to others.

The impending massive vaccination (2009) is the direct result of a pseudo-pandemic of swine flu (A-H1N1) officially declared by the UN. The long-term ploy of the global elite is to reduce the world population to 500 millions. The new vaccines contain an extremely vicious cocktail of avian, swine and human influenza viruses. Quebec resident Ghislaine Lanctôt

On June 11, 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) signaled that a pandemic of 2009 H1N1 flu was underway. Viruses that normally occur in pigs (swine) are now being transferred from human to human. To date, September 13, 2009, 3,486 people around the world have died (figures according to WHO).

Pharmaceutical companies have beefed up the production of H1N1 vaccine for the flu season.  Who's really profiting from this outbreak?

That being said only certain people will be able to receive it. What happens when you take it?

Here are a couple of websites. You decide. Find out for yourself what the panic is about and then work from there.
