How to Get Rid of Premature Wrinkles - Get Younger Looking Skin

Updated on July 23, 2013

Signs of Aging

Seeing signs of aging as one gets older is inevitable. Wrinkles appear on the face, crow’s feet perch around the eyes and lines form on the lips. Years ago, these are problems only faced by old people. However, things have changed; the fast-paced and active lifestyle of today’s generation seems to have taken its toll. Gone are the days when skin care products only cater to grandparents. People in their 20s may already experience signs of aging because of several different factors. For this reason, many look for ways on how to get rid of premature wrinkles.

It is fairly common nowadays for people to spend thousands of dollars in cosmetics just to hide various signs of aging such as wrinkles and fine lines. But remember, prevention is better than cure. A simple change in lifestyle can spell the difference between wrinkling prematurely or not.

What Causes Premature Wrinkles

Before learning how to prevent wrinkles, it is first important to know what causes it.

1. Stress.

Are you always tired from work? Are you deprived of sleep? Do you have too many problems to worry about all day? If you answered yes to all these questions, you can expect to suffer from premature wrinkling. When you are under stress, the body releases certain hormones to cope with the situation. The thing is, some hormones can be harmful to the body. For one, cortisol makes your immune system weaker and reduces muscular tissue. These have negative impact on your skin.

2. Sun.

It is fun to sit and relax under the heat of the sun. However, too much exposure to sunlight damages collagen, the substance responsible for giving the skin a youthful look. The result of the breakdown of collagen is a saggy and wrinkled skin.

3. Facial Expressions.

Look in front of a mirror and make facial expressions. Do you notice wrinkles on your forehead while you raise your eyebrows? Or maybe tiny grooves when you smile? The skin has the ability to bounce back to its original position. But as you get older, the skin loses this ability. It is not possible (and recommended) to stop smiling but the next time you catch yourself making a habitual facial expression, remind yourself to stop.

4. Smoking.

According to studies, people who smoke are up to 5 times more likely to have premature wrinkles. Nicotine and other chemicals found in cigarettes constrict your blood vessels, causing lack of oxygen in your skin.

How to Get Rid of Premature Wrinkles

Here are tips on how to get rid of premature wrinkles. These simple things can make or break your skin so make sure you follow these strictly.

1. Protect yourself from the sun.

If you need to stay under the sun for a long period of time, do not forget to use sunscreen with at least SPF 15. Also use a lip balm with sunscreen and sunglasses with UV protection.

2. Eat healthy.

Make sure that you have enough intake of vitamins and minerals daily. Fruits and vegetables should be included in your diet. Foods rich in Vitamins A, C and E will help you have beautiful skin.

3. Keep yourself hydrated.

Drink plenty of water. As much as possible, avoid sodas and other beverages high in sugar. Drinking water helps in preventing dry skin.

4. Stop smoking.

Smoking does not only increase your chances of having premature wrinkling, it is also bad for your overall health. Do yourself a favor and quit smoking.

5. Use a facial moisturizer with SPF.

This does not only give you supple skin, it also protects you from the harmful rays of the sun. There are also a lot of anti-aging creams in the market. Choose the one that is appropriate for your skin type and current condition Make sure that you do this every day or you’ll see the effects as you get older.

6. Use eye creams.

Your eyes can easily give hints about your age. Many suffer from puffiness, bags and wrinkling around the eyes. It is recommended to use eye cream to prevent these signs of aging from appearing.

7. Avoid stressing yourself.

Stress has ill effects on your skin. Try to put things into place and have time to relax. Do not deprive yourself of sleep and keep healthy. A simple change in lifestyle may just be what you need to have that wrinkle-free and younger looking skin.

That's right, carol7777. We cannot avoid the inevitable. Sooner or later, we will have to face the fact that those wrinkles will appear and there's not much we can do about it. What we can do is to keep our skin healthy and minimize the effects of aging on our skin.
