Old and New Experiences

Updated on September 2, 2020

Devika enjoys sharing her work with a friendly community. Writing opens the mind. I live in a foreign country learned a foreign language .

My Experience

I have formed new relationships and new experiences and the old experiences linger on.

My life gave me better opportunities.

I have my life and make sure to live by my motto.

Enjoy life and be happy daily and life is what I make of it.

The strengths and weaknesses are part of which I am and will always be part of me.

I can't live in denial that would take me to another place where I don't want to be. I live with the fact of life and face up to reality daily.

Life can give me anything I want, and when I want all that and more to make me feel good. If I don't do for me, nobody else will do or care for me.

I avoid the dwelling conversations and try to discuss my culture with my good friends. Sometimes talking is good.

I miss my culture I feel like I have lost that part about myself.

I look forward to spending that precious time with my family and maybe some friends.

Old experiences:

My life was different before I came to live in Croatia and that is what made feel good and strong about me.

My personality grew stronger and more confident.

The older moments were special and everything in my life was loud and not silent. I lived a much more enjoyable life.

Everything for me felt normal and good.

A life I grew into with such great moments I could not just forget about my past life.

I know the old experiences taught me to be smart and confident.

Spending time with my family had always been pleasant to look forward to.

A family together and with people who cared and still do care for me. I did not have to go through any obstacles of a different choice of life.

My life felt great and so much to do together.

The daily practices of my culture were another part of my life that fulfilled my life in many ways.

I did not forget my roots where I came from and what matters most to me.

Old experiences like with good people, trustworthy people, the great personalities, are not often noticed in my new life.

Those who could make me laugh, and enjoy fun times together made me see life differently.

Life was different and fulfilled.

I have over the years experienced new events and that had made me positive and smarter in all my ways.

Life is not what others want from you; life is about what you want for yourself.

Without your own perspective in life, not much can be the way you choose for it to be.

I have a new life with new experiences.

Personal Development

Great comparisons.

New experiences such as:

Learning about a new culture.
A new language learned.
Meeting the different people.
Looking up to the different mentalities.
Foods are unique tasting.
Lifestyle changes.
Weather changes.
New adjustments, for example, working conditions.
The change of a social life.
The standard of living.
Traditional living.
The much I had to put up with had made more aware of what I am up against in this foreign country.
I opened my way here through my writing.
My writing had taught me to express my feelings directly.
I know it can be hard to be direct to family or in a close community, I am just that way.
People rather see me, for I am than for the false person who hides behind the pretense of a mask.

I am proud of me for being the way I am that had brought me to another life.
In all, the old and new experiences have shown me the greater me from inside.

I don't believe in giving up and falling apart and don't believe in negative conversations.
I believe in a positive and free mind.

Today matters more than yesterday, so I chose to focus on the present and forget about what hurt me the day before, I won't go anywhere in the dwelling mind.
My mind is free from the dwelling. I know things will get better and the more I say it, the better it all becomes for me.
I am not for myself but like to feel secure for my next moments.
I am friendly and not everyone can think like me and do like me.
I think and do differently, and don't repeat myself in any conversation.

Once my point is heard I walk away from the situation.
I enjoy listening to music and those good moments make me feel happier and more alive.

Leaving old experiences behind to make new experiences had got me to another life.

I can't go back and think I will have the same old life as I had once experienced. The change had moved mountains and caused many slippery slides.

Old experiences are part of what goes on in any life, it is the new experiences that make you that original person.

You don't know when your life will turn around; a surprise is always waiting for you around the corner.

I am trying to get your attention to my new life and of how it all changed like a flash of lightning and it still did feel like yesterday.
The years have flashed by and I feel like an old tape recorder going on and on about my life.

I won't let that tape, snap it would be my strongest line to success. If you believe, then you have hope in your life.
Hope gets you by daily.

I always had hope and did not fail in my thoughts of life.

My ideas opened my eyes in another part of the world of which I did not dream of.
I did not know and did not see.

When I found out and saw what I came to I learned to appreciate my life more now than I had from before.

You can change in any way you want from the outside and from the inside you will always be the real you.

Changing the real you are not possible at any costs.

I feel great with the small new part of me and will always be me.

I see life in my way as every individual would see their life in a much more different way.
I don't think it would be a nice habit to constantly view your life as others would. After all it is up to you to find yourself.
Finding yourself is important to you as I have found myself in a foreign country and other people's opinions don't bother me.

I listen, but don't take heed to what they have to say to me. What works for me is what I practice in my daily conversations.
I practice what I preach.

Do you practice what you preach?

The strange experiences can make you the best person.
The old and new experiences can make you stronger and smarter.
Don't sit by and expect everything to come to you.

A little effort goes a long way.

I learned the hard way and will carry the experience along with me.

I am patient and don't sweat the small stuff.

I live by my good nature.
My worst times are often frustrating and chose to treat these times as water off a duck's back.

Hi mary615 interesting abut life and the changes we got to go through. Giving up your home after that many years must have been a big change. Be positive and make new memories each day. Focus on what you have not on what you no longer have. It helps to move on. Thank you.

I had a life changing event in my life when I had to give up my home of 35 years. I moved into a tiny apartment. I left my big house and garden, and I do miss them very much, I looked forward to this new challenge in my life.

I do believe in living in the present, and although I enjoy the wonderful old memories, I am making new memories every day.

      I love your garden photos.

This is a very inspiring Hub. I enjoyed the read.

Hi Devika, We must live from one day to the next, the old way shows us to be better in the new way. We should not want to relive the past because we need to develop the new. Surely, many of us have times that we would like to relive but life does not allow for that so therefore, we must move on with it. Thank you so much for sharing!

Devika, another interesting and thought-provoking hub. I really believe that we are here to learn and grow, change is inevitable, we can't avoid it, but we can learn the lessons and move on to new experiences. You're a sterling example of how well we can adapt to change.

It appears to me that you have a healthy attitude toward life. Our past will always be there but we continually move forward, learning and hoping for the best, that dosen't mean that we forget family or friends. We live in the moment, making new friends is a good sign. So many dwell in the past, I've done that, it's not healthy. Thank's for sharing a part of your life. Great hub....

Hi Ann you are so right about me talking about my old life ''too much pain.'' In my new kindle Croatia and I even when I started writing I felt hurt of where to start and of what to say though tried my best and went ahead and got it published. It feels hard and so much to have had to let go. Thank you for finding my hub useful and interesting. I am pleased to have read your comment.

Well done hub. I learned a long time ago not to hold on too tightly to the way things are. We do not even need to move to a new location and life still changes all around us.

You have said a lot in this one hub Devika. We all have a past, present and future...unfortunately no matter how good our past life was we can't go back. Some people prefer to forget their past. Whatever the case try to enjoy the good memories but you have to live your life now. I like the saying "today is a gift, that is why it is called the 'present'." You just need to do your best to shape the future the way you want it to be. All the best.

It's true that you should not dwell in the past but learn from it, taking in all your new experiences and learning from them too.

It would be interesting to hear about your 'old' life; I'm sure many would identify with what and why you had to change or maybe you have some advice which could help others. Maybe, though, it's too painful for you and that's understandable.

You're obviously someone with strength of character and determination. You live for the present and look forward, appreciating your surroundings from day to day.

      Useful and interesting hub.
