The Cancer That is Cancer

Updated on April 8, 2013
Cancer Sucks
Cancer Sucks | Source

Stage IV Colon Cancer

A moment for Cousin Maureen, if you please,

Our powerful Karma could bring her some Ease.

Almost a year now she fights this Disease,

It's appetite fearsome - so hard to appease!

Three hard months of Chemo have done what we Prayed,

The Tumors have shrunk - the Pet Scan displayed.

It's time to Go In now - the Surgeons conveyed,

"Most of your Liver" - cannot be delayed!

But wait, then there's More - as if That's not enough,

Every last Cell must be thoroughly snuffed!

The Cancer is looking for weakness - be Tough!

Show it who's Boss - that you won't take it's guff!

So friends, I Beg you - a moment to pause,

Send healing Thoughts for a most Noble Cause!

You'd Love her to meet her - so Sweet with few flaws,

Help snatch Cousin Maureen back from Cancer's sick jaws!

You'd Love Her to Meet Her

Thanks So Much for Your Prayers and Positive Karma!

Honey....I feel honored by the fact that you feel inspired by me. Me?!

I'm living my life the way I think anyone would live it, but I'm fully aware of the fact that I don't go by the standard ways of living.

Thanks so much for this positive comment! It has ended my day perfectly! Sweet dreams from Valencia, Spain 01.16 a.m.

WOW!!! ImKarn!!! That's some great news to share with us. I'm so happy for you and your cousin Maureen!

Let fear step back and let living life to the fullest step in:-)

The other news is horrible and I very well know this can happen. So soon, so sudden.

Focus on the good news and hug your cousin for me! I kiss my cats and hug them every day and I hug my friends whenever I see them.

My family in Holland gets a long distance call every week and I hug myself whenever I feel the need to:-)

      HUGS TO YOU BABE!

She'll go every 3 months, but right now - the world is a beautiful place because she is still in it!

On the other hand - another woman i do not know DIED of this ugly disease in a matter of THREE MONTHS from diagnosis..

it is too horrible to contemplate...

      kiss your loved ones tonight..

I'm praying for you and sending only positive energy through the cosmos, wishing Maureen will get well.

Cancer is a mighty difficult illness to go through as I've seen from close by. Hope you and Maureen feel supported in many other ways, to make the journey a little more bearable.

@Escobana: You are sooo sweet and supportive!

Thank you for your concern! Maureen is....doing well, so far - but, of course - life is VERY difficult..

she is still recovering from an unbelievable operation - and she had a few issues right after..

She just started her second - and hopefully last - round of chemotherapy - with a liver that's 1/3 of it's previous size - she's finding it VERY difficult..

only time will tell...but - she says she will refuse further invasive measures - if it should come back..

      Sigh.

      ya know...

      it's never pretty...

      Thanks for caring!

Getting the shivers for reading your work. It's been a while ago I see you wrote this Hub.

How's she doing? A very dear friend of mine went through all the horrible stages of breastcancer. She lost both and got new implants.

I couldn't shake of the fear of losing her but she's still here thank God!

Now training for the marathon, doing better than ever and strong as anyone I've ever seen!

Big hugs to you! Shared, up and hit some buttons for ya!

A well drafted poem with a great message! Cancer can be a nasty battle waged against so many who don't deserve the harm and destruction it brings. In fact, I have a deeper appreciation for what your cousin is going through now that I have a better understanding of how devastating this battle can be thanks to these words. She is in my prayers and bless you for rallying behind her as you have to help her through this tough time.
