The Birth Of My Son- A Memory To Treasure
An Account From Pregnancy to Delivery
The entire time
Prenatally
I knew he was
My little boy.
His Daddy wanted
Another little girl,
But never did
I take away his joy.
The day was
Cold and cloudy
Around the hour of one,
Mama told me to
Walk around
The block.
This was to
Get ready for birth
For reasons
I couldn't Knock.
Then that evening,
The Doctor called me
To say,
"Get to the
Hospital tonight,
To have your baby
By the next day."
On the way,
After getting lost
We made it to the
Maternity floor.
It was exciting to know
That I used to be a
Nurse in training
In this hospital before.
I was in labor the entire night,
Those early hours of
January five.
Because I fell asleep
Half way through,
Five liters of oxygen
Kept us both alive.
Before the dawn
They told me to push
I gave it with all my might.
The IV Pitocin
Dripped into me
All through the night.
I finally needed some relief,
So the Doctor emptied my bladder
With a little tube.
And then with the help of forceps,
My baby was finally removed.
And then emerged
From darkness and
Free into the Light.
At first was shy,
But then gave a cry.
The Daddy had no choice
But smile at this
Reddish bundle adorned.
"You have a BOY,"
Announced the Doctor
On that Fine and Wonderful morn.
When the nurse put him into my arms
I smiled and told him,
"Dana Michael Is your name."
And from that time on
I knew my life
Would never be the same.
My son,
A Brother,
A former Artist,
A guitarist,
Electronica Keyboardist,
and a future Pharmacist.
He is Always Loving,
Helpful,
Thoughtful and
Kind.
All grown up now,
But Still, always Mine!!!
