What is the best way to lose weight permanently? This is a question I am asked more than any other on the vast subject of fat loss. It is unfortunately a fact that 95% of those who lose weight successfully regain that weight back within 5 years and some even put more on than they originally lost. Sad but true.
In this article I am going to show you the 4 areas you need to master so you can become one of the 5% maintainers and the next time you lose that fat it will be your final time.
Over the last 30 plus years my experience has showed me that first of all you need to apply E.U.A.
E is for Education – This means learning about how your body, mind and exercise work to achieve permanent fat loss.Don’t get scared or put off by this. We are not looking to become scientists but just learn the basics of how things SIMPLY work and some SIMPLE techniques you can apply daily. Anyone can do this.
U is for Understanding – Once you understand that the reason you have a slow metabolism is because you have lost your muscle mass and don’t exercise correctly then you can change it and turn things around. It is reversible.
This is just one example of 100’s. Understanding the basics means that then you can apply everything correctly and get the results you’ve always desired, instead of doing things wrong and getting nowhere fast.
A is for Action – You must then take action every day on what you have learned. Without action you will get the same as you’ve always got which is probably yo–yo dieting for years.
Remember this: For things to change you have to change. For things to get better you have to get better, one step at a time!
So, now we know all about E.U.A. let us move onto the 4 areas you have to master on this “what is the best way to lose weight permanently” programme.
Number 1 – Emotional Eating (Emotional). There are 2 types of hunger: emotional hunger and physical hunger. Do you know the difference? Emotional hunger is when you have a stressful day, your loved one has upset you, your friend has let you down or you are sat at home in front of the TV and you are single and bored. Do any of these sound familiar?
When you are emotionally hungry you will continually sabotage your fat loss plan. I will be covering some simple emotional eating techniques in future articles to help stop you from eating emotionally when the going gets tough.
Number 2 – Social Eating (Social). Research shows that we eat out away from our homes 40% of the time (at work, at a friends house and in restaurants etc). It is a fact that you will eat more when you are in a group or chatting and drinking with friends/family.
Social pressure and the choice of too many tempting foods and drink will continually take you away from your weight loss plan. I will cover some techniques in future articles on how to make the right food choices when eating out and how to say no to pressure from others that will keep you on track as a lifestyle change.
Number 3 – Mental Approach (Mental). You will need to be strong mentally to lose weight permanently because the way we live today there are far too many fundamentals going against you.
We will look at affirmations, goals, vision boards and other simple techniques that will stop you making the wrong choices and more importantly feeling positive about every aspect of your journey.
Number 4 – How To Exercise Correctly (Physical). Once you fully understand how to exercise correctly and motivate yourself to do it consistently then you are on your way to fat loss for life.
It is all about training smart and getting the best results for your efforts. Why you should be lifting weights (including women and pensioners), why your body composition is so important and how to get your metabolism burning fat 24/7.
