I have weight problems. how to solve them??/

I'm overweight and unhealthy. I do know how to dress myself for it not to show, but I desperately have to lose weight because its gotten to a point where I have these dreams about weight and they not good ones. been going to the gym since I was 16 I was 160lbs then now i'm as big as heaven knows. I tried going on a diet many times, last year I went vegetarian nothing dairy. but it got expensive so I stopped its been downhill from there. If only I had a group of people to exercise with.. help what to do??

Take care of eating habits. Reduce consumption of fat and products contributing towards weight increase. Exercises also help in weight loss. Recent research studies suggest to reduce your food intake. It's the most effective way to reduce weight. Don't go for weight loss formula comprising chemicals. Besides side effects, people have reported of weight gain when they stop use of these formula.

Going on a diet is something that needs discipline. If you really want to lose weight, you can exercise by brisk walking or jogging for starters. You can bring with you an ipod or mp3 player so that you can be entertained by the music when you are exercising alone. Watch out for the food that you eat. Eat healthy and exercise at the same time. It will take time to burn all that extra pounds but if you continue on your diet, you will definitely see results.

    1. Make realistic goals - "The What"

    2. Break up realistic goals into sub goals - "The How"

3, Focus on one step at a time - accomplish it --then move to next step. For example, if you wanted to conquer calories, you might want to do that first before you move on to exercise. Focus on one behavior goal at a time!

    4. Make sure your eating is planned and follows your basic rules you've set up (you should do this in the breaking up in sub goals part)

5, Get a new hobby - something you can really enjoy. Work on it whenever you feel anxiety and hunger. Try to replace your former eating activity with something healthy.

Oh, I know how it feels like. Maybe you can try to start again and this time, you might want to try some sports. I used to be really fat when i was in high school, when i got to college, a friend introduced me to judo and i lost all the pounds after merely a year. However, don't just  make it as a short term goal...make it long term, or else you'll gain that weight back if you don't take care of yourself and you continue to compromise. Sadly, i regain the weight that i lost and now i'm struggling. But that doesn't stop me. I suggest you get a fitness buddy or buddies who can help you with your weight loss journey.

I have a hub about wight loss, maybe you can drop by and share your thoughts as well.

losing weight is always a problem for most people. It also has a lot to do with race, Most americans (white and black) have salt-sensitivity. That means they gain both water weight and fat-weight. If you want to reduce weight seriously, you need to learn what your body is most sensitive to when it comes to food. Avoid salty and sweets because these can cause bloating. You don't need to become vegetarian because that's not getting enough nutrients and your body will just go hungrier. Plan your meals carefully (protein, carbs and fat) but eat smaller portions only. Do not starve yourself and do not eat until your drunk with satisfaction. If you include exercise to your regimen don't quit cause your weigh will bounce back. And when you exercise, 10-15 minutes minutes of cardio will do. smile

Losing weight is so hard.  The first thing that I would do is to keep a journal of what you eat.  If you bite it, write it.  Don't do anything drastic diet wise - that will only make it easier to overeat down the road.  Start by making healthier choices....opt for grilled instead of fried, cut out regular soda, etc.  The slower the weight comes off the easier it will be to maintain it in the long run.

I've lost 70lbs in the past so if you want to talk, I'm here for you!

I am learning that being overweight is not as much the core of the problem as is being nutritionally starving.   I am not recommneding you take any products but I am taking some products right now which are addressing cellular nutrition and its working for me.

Speak with your doctor first to see if there's any health issues you should be aware of before trying to lose weight. Exercise everyday, record what you eat, reward yourself. Consider signing up for a weight loss program.

If you truly feel you have a weight problem your biggest problem will be resisting temptation. Don't become impatiant while obtaining your goal to loose weight. Work with your doctor and well as a nutritionist to develop a prgram that will allow your body to gradually reduce weight. A crash diet will lead to serious health and emotional let downs. Once you obtain your goal, continue to excercise and eat properly. Son't allow depression or anger to trash your goal and your hard work.

Your problem is a common one, most people with weight problems get in to a particular routine of unbalance, me myself when I was young use to do the same thing I wasnt obese but I was fat.   The problem was I use to eat even when I wasnt hungry therefore puting on weight, one thing I would try if I was you is to only and I do mean only eat when you are hungry even it mean cutting out the routine of eating at set times such as breakfast, lunch, dinner or late night meals.   I did this for a few weeks and I slowly began to feel less sluggish and fat the reason is because the body is using up resources such as fat throughout your other daily routines therefore only eating when the body tells you to allows the body to work for itself.   The other form of course is exercise going to the gym is not always the best possible route as the gym is built for those of us that wish to build muscle the best form is outdoor training.   I run a personal training session called extreme express at a cost of 25 pounds per session, the sessions are conducted once at weekends and I personally oversee your training regime continues throughout monday to friday where we then train again once a week saturday.   A tip try light running, skipping and gentle exercise,
and reduce your food intake to its most minimum.

Calories IN and calories OUT is a simple concept to embrace concerning all things weight related.  If your intake is more then you burn then you will GAIN and keep doing so especially as your metabolism slows down.  If you BURN more then you CONSUME you will lose and keep it off.  Bottom line avoid junk food, anything with HFCS, MSG and sugar or any Soda/Aspartame.  Eat small healthy meals 5x a day as opposed to a large heavy dinner, especially late.  Exercise, exercise, exercise.  get rid of the fat inducing TV and video games.  This country is obsessed with the couch potato images.  Go outside and jog and run, breathe fresh air and push yourself.  Join a martial arts school- You will learn how to defend yourself and get in shape at the same time!

    Good Luck!

Everyone ignores the obvious fact that it comes down to calories in calories out. You need to calculate your metabolic rate and eat 500 cals less each day. If you have trouble, you need to find foods that make you not binge. Foods high in fiber, like vegetables can help.

Fitness Tom has it exactly right. You have more calories coming in than going out.

I have a four-part hub on how to lose weight that will help.

Anybody who recommends a diet is leading you down the wrong path. Permanent weight-loss requires permanent change. Diets are temporary by definition.

Think of simple things you can do to increase your caloric output. Do you drive to work? Can you walk instead? Can you park farther away and walk a few blocks, then increase the distance incrementally?

Start out small and build it up.

Losing weight, like everything else needs, is the avoidance of extremes. Don't go too heavy on the exercise or you'll make yourself too tired for the world around you. Moderation is the key. Don't cut off all your food intake too because when your body notices the shift you end up ruining your metabolism which slows the weight loss process and you may in turn actually gain weight instead. Avoid any drinks other than Water. Liquid forms of anything is easier to absorb into the body and addictive things like soda or anything with high fructose corn syrup are really empty calories that in turn dehydrate you anyways. If you already are addicted then just slowly get yourself off of it but i suggest not going cold turkey as well because they do have pretty obnoxious and sometimes grueling withdrawal effects. Instead of meals have a series of light snacks throughout the day or divide your meals into snack portions. For exercise its good to stretch often and you can easily exercise while watching television by doing sets of crunches, arm curls at light weight and many reps, or what have you. Do it during commercials or during loading screens on those games. And then when you get the rhythm, keep to it, Stay to it. Don't focus on it just accept it as your daily routine and you will lose the weight when you don't realize it.

The most important things to do are to get more fruits and vegetables into your diet and get more exercise. You must reduce the amount of white breads, sugar, pasta, in your diet. Notice I said reduce, not eliminate. If you are getting at least 5 or more servings of fruits and veggies daily, you will create less room for processed foods. After a few weeks of eating more lean meats, vegetables, and fruits, you will find your cravings for sweets and high carb foods, not as urgent or frequent. With the convenience and popularity of processed foods laden with sugars, chemicals, etc., it is no wonder more people find themselves overweight. Manufacturers add a lot of things that aren't good for you to make you come back for more. These things take a toll on your weight and health over time.

Do not utilize fad or overly restrictive diets. I wrote a hub about losing weight that goes into more detail but each time you quickly lose weight particularly if you're very restrictive in your calories or food groups, you will be slowing your metabolism and losing muscle. Muscle is valuable in losing weight and women do not bulk up like the hulk when lifting weights for just 30 minutes or so 3 times a week.

If you fear lifting weights for this reason, understand that you would have to lift for at least a couple hours several times a week for several months to get bulky in addition to changing your diet to promote muscle growth. Extremely restrictive diets slow your metabolism by signaling your body to hold onto every calorie because it doesn't know when it will see a substantial meal. Compounding this is that you lose muscle when dieting and not doing strength training or lifting weights.
