   Which do you prefer to live when you get old, live in your own home or in the retiring home?
   
   I heard some older people hate to stay in a retiring home, I want to know if there are those who love to spent the rest of their lives in a retirement home.

   My own home is my first vote.
   But, I have seen far too many lonely elderly seniors, usually single, living alone in beautiful large homes.  They need social interaction too so if they cannot get out or will not venture out then perhaps a retirement home is best.

   I think most people would like to think that they will be able to stay in their home even as they age, but most of the time it's not realistic. My family had to take care of my elderly grandmother with alzheimers, but they realized once she was too far gone that they needed more help than they could provide. She needed help bathing, eating, going to the bathroom... She had to have constant supervision. We were in the same position with my great aunt. My boyfriend hasn't really been around elderly people and is convinced he would never put his parents in a retirement home, but sometimes there really is no other option. Especially in a time when people are working longer hours and unable to be home 24/7. So I don't think I would prefer a retirement home (maybe a condo where I don't have to do work) but sometimes you don't really have a choice.

   I know that I will prefer to live in my own home, but it depends how my health is when I get older. I don't want to be a huge burden on my children. I've actually told my children which Richmond retirement homes I would be willing to live in when I'm older, if it comes to that. http://www.themapleresidences.com

   Honestly, it depends on how my family feels about having to take care of me while still living in the home. They will be doing a lot of the work and I would not want to be a burden on them. If I had to, I would stay at a retirement home for the sake of my family. I already know a beautiful retirement home in Surprise AZ that I would love to live at  http://www.chaparralwinds.com/
