Find out about groups in your area. A friend of my daughter has aspergers and it used to be very obvious from her behaviour, but now you would hardly know. Her mother found a group for her to go to specifically for kids with aspergers. I don’t know what they did there, but I know her mother said she really relaxed and enjoyed it.
A creative writing class might also be good if your child in interested - this girl came to a class I ran and participated well. At first she didn’t choose to read out her work, but after several classes she did.
Also see if the school will do anything. Our school arranged a ‘circle of friends’ for the girl. Again I’m not entirely sure what this involved, but I think it probably helped with social skills. I think the circle only met once a week, and included friends and people she had had difficulty with, so they learned how to be together.
