I've been doing pretty much the same: RICE.
I sprained my right ankle almost two months ago and I'm still not recovered. The sprain wasn't bad enough to require crutches but I've been wearing bandages and/or taping for support and I recently started receiving acupuncture near the injured area. Unfortunately, I reinjured the same area going down the stairs at home and that further delayed my recovery.Also, after the pain and inflammation settles, rehab exercises are needed to rehabilitate the muscles which haven't been used. My muscles in my lower legs have deteriorated quite a bit from not using them.
