To be or Not to be Vegeterian?
love of meat vs love of animals...

Look at those tasty little lambs!
In all seriousness, I find when I eat organic, non GMO foods, I am healthier. Likewise, when I eat meat, I am not as healthy as when I don't. Free range meats do not cause the same problems as mass produced meat and I have not experimented enough with them to know if they cause no problems.
On a morality scale, I feel it is important to note that plants express the same emotional and reactive qualities as any other species on the plant. (Look up the Acacia tree and Giraffes for one example.) To simply say we shouldn't eat meat because animals have feelings too seems short sighted to me. I feel we should be giving everything that maintains our lives great respect.
I think it is fine to eat meat as long as the animals are treated well I am not a big meat eater though I prefer fish.
It is a matter of whether or not you require the energy of work. I do know those who are vegeterian who do not require to do heavy work while others need to consume meats to perform heavy work. It is the energy requirement as meats will provide them.
edhan - the amount of heavy work one has to do has absolutely no relationship to eating meat. Vegetarians get all the nutrients, including calories (where energy comes from) that they need for heavy work.
I was actually referring to those working in high attitude where the weather is cold and people require to consume meats in order to have energy as well as withstanding the cold weather. Meats allow the person to last longer for digestion.
Humans are omnivores, which I think humans are meant to eat both plants and animals. In the wild, animals will eat other animals. So I think it is okay to eat meat if one chooses to. I also believe that it is easier to achieve optimal nutrition by eating some seafood (for omega-3), some meats (B12 and full-spectrum amnio-acid proteins), and some animal products such as eggs. It is still possible to have optimal nutrition on a vegetarian diet, but one needs to know how to pick foods more carefully to ensure they get the full range of omega-3 and B12, and the type of protein with a full-spectrum amnio-acids.
I eat meat, fish, vegetables and all produce, but has slowed down with meat lately as I'm entering mid-40's. I may not be a full-pledged vegetable eater but I feel I have to incorporate a lot of fresh greens if I want a healthier aging.
Fruits and vegetables not only keep you young and beautiful but they keep you healthy. I say why not, just be careful to find some good meat alternatives to the diet. Personally I couldn't do it. I feel it is restrictive and would not have the discipline to follow it.
I love being a vegetarian. I can't handle the thought of animals being killed just so I can have a burger or some bacon in the morning. Not only does it suck for the animals, its unhealthy and bad for the environment. Mainly I do it out of empathy for the animals. However, I will admit that occasionally I will make an exception while I'm in Europe. They have much less vegetarian options there, AND their regulations for raising animals as food are much stricter. They let the animals roam around in huge fields, eating a natural and healthy diet, have veterinary care, and are killed in a quick and humane way. I still don't enjoy eating animals but I really appreciate Europe's stance.
i was a non-vegetarian.
But i am against killing of animals. If we could live without eating meat why should we kill those poor animals.

Why do vegetarians and vegans condemn people who eat meat?We do not think they are crazy or speak poorly of them who can't stomach the thought of sushi, or even bacon or eggs for breakfast.

How do vegetarians feel towards animals that eat meat?If some vegetarians are against other people eating meat are they also against animals that eat meat and if not, why?

If we can supplement the nutritional value of meat with other foods than why are we still killing the animals to eat? Is it just because they taste so good?

Do peopleeat meat in heaven?I was curious as to what people eat in heaven. Who does the cooking and who slaughter the animals if they eat meat. If God tells us that we should not kill, does this apply to animals?

My twin grandbabies are 18 months old now, and one of them refuses to eat meat. I don't mean just beef, but also pork, seafood of any kind and poultry. We've rolled it in bread crumbs, dipped it in all kinds of sauces, chopped it up so it's almost invisible and hidden it all types of dishes and...
