How do you deal with anxiety?

Have you ever experienced severe anxiety to the point where you have to keep taking deep breaths every few minutes to calm down? What kind of symptoms do you go through and how do you deal with it?

Have you considered seeing an M.D?  I'm sure meditation and breathing techniques help, but medication has proven to be very useful for many people. Anxiety is probably just a brain glitch thing. For example, my little sister used to have panic attacks once in a while, so she finally got medication which has put a stop to that. Now she can live her life normally. That being said, it is my understanding that anxiety doesn't disappear completely, but with the right medication and more knowledge about our cognitive responses, it is manageable. The only other thing I would say is that some people may try to tell you that you are depressed, and to take anti-depressants. My point is that there are  differences between the two medications, although they are in the same "family." You might even be able to get by with as little as 10 or 20 milligrams. But in the end, you must do what you feel comfortable doing. Best of luck to you!

We have in our religion what we call fortification through remembrance and supplication from our Holy book and Sunnah ( prophet's teachings ). If you like you can try it, just say and repeat as much as you like , as follows ( O my God I take refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, weakness and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debts and from being over powered by men )

I promise you to feel better and pleased. GOOD LUCK !

I get terrible panic attacks. The only way that I can stop them is either by deep breathing or even singing, just put on the radio and sing along, it helps with the breathing and stops the bad thoughts. If that doesn't work start counting and count as fast as you can, good luck!
