   without checking anywhere .. my understanding is a place where we can be in a fully assisted environment. Especially when we are older, we can stay there for people to care for us. They should have proper meal schedule, meal requirements, medical team to support during emergency or even for monthly check-ups.
   
   Since i am not blessed with a child, I have always looked for this as an option when I turn 60.

      For not having done any research that is a pretty good answer.  But if you are planning for a nursing home you may want to shoot for the70's rather than the 60's barring a medical condition.

   My initial association believe it or not, is a place void of hockey ice; thus, a place of little thrill and transitory to the "Big Ice"in the sky; literally too close to the polar-opposite of that H-E-double hockey sticks way down below...

   It's the final place one goes to wait to die.
   No more driving around town independent, choosing your own meals and meal times, (no more) vacation traveling, dating, sex, or privacy.
   The rest of your life is spent "waiting" for someone to visit you, for meal time, for having your diaper changed, taken to the shower, looking forward to episodes of Jeopardy! and The Wheel of Fortune or Food Network shows. Routine becomes a way of life.
   Having people speak to you in the same tone adults do to small children. Watching the little birds in cages in the lobby.
   The smell of urine and fecal matter stained sheets in the hallway. Waking up depressed each day while reminiscing about the past.
   Watching one person after another be "carried out" until it's your turn to die. Overly prescribed medications to keep you drowsy.
   Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock....until (your) clock stops.
