It sounds to me like your doctor should take a closer look.  The symptoms you mention here do sound similar to stress.  But, other things like you dropping stuff and falling down bring up red flags in my mind.  Various things could make you shake not being stressed out; low blood sugar, excessive caffeine intake, etc and list goes on.  Some of these things can cause the heart to pound or skip a beat.  If this persists I would seek a second opinion from a different medical doctor.

Definitely you should go to a doctor but some ideas to look at are what you're eating. Too much junk foods, sugar (including and especially sodas), and caffeine like DrSteveSmiley said. Anyways think positive, eat healthy, drink more water and go check with the doctor.

I am not a Doctor...but I stayed at a holiday Inn! It's not unusual to experience involuntary muscle contractions as a result of fatigue. Symptoms such as a twitching calve muscle or eye lid are common. When I get physically tired I drop things, and generally become clumsy! If this happens following physical exercising or hard word I wouldn't be overly concerned.I agree with the other posters that think that too much sugar or caffeine could be the culprit. Get checked out of diabetes or hypoglycemia!

If you take any medications, one of them could cause it.  Even if you used to take certain medications, but no longer do, they can cause shaking that will not go away completely.  Do you drink a lot of caffeine?  Have they checked your blood sugar?  Try eating a lot of protein.  If you eat a lot of raw sugar products, candy, ice cream, pastries, etc., it can mess with your blood sugar.  I would suggest getting a referral from your Dr. to see a neurologist for this.  I hope everything goes well for you and you come out of this quickly.  There is always help for things like this, just never give up.  Also, certain exercises can help maintain your balance.  This is another area where a doctor can help you.  They can point you in the right direction for the best exercises.

In my experience, with work with a somatic experiencing (body based) therapist the shaking is sometimes working off nervous energy, trauma, or stress. It's the body's way of defusing the intense energy building up inside of you.

It is hard to prevent… a suggestion for you would be deep breathing during it but further than that… to do stress reducing things as often as possible in your life on a regular basis. This will give you a higher tolerance (or more reserves) when the bad stuff comes up.

It could also be physical anxiety, and that is a good thing to get checked out (blood levels of electrolytes, heart, thyroid, and blood composition).
