Deciding on a Life Change
You Can Change
Make Your Decision
So you think you want to make a life change? But do you really want to do this? After all your life is pretty comfortable as it is, isn't it? We all naturally resist change. Then how do you know this is really for you? After all, each of us has begun something only to drop it shortly. If you are like me, there are many such examples of things we thought we wanted!
If we are to change our lives, we must know why we want to. Of, course you can just say "because my life would be better if I did it. But this is not reason enough! We know we would be better off if we would lose some weight, or exercise more, or get rich. Yet knowing is not good enough for us to really do it! Instead we just continue on, staying in our comfort zone!
Write It Out!
Try this
Well let's evaluate this. I use the "list method, but you can use what ever works for you. Take a piece of paper and head it "(what ever the change is to be)".
Divide the rest of the paper into two columns, but leave some room at the bottom for notes and comments. Label your columns 'pro' and 'con'. In the 'con' side list the drawbacks of this change. In the 'pro' side place the positive things. You can see where this is going..."Like" on the pro, and "don't like" in the con side.
The important thing is to be exact. Phrases like "not enough money", or "hate my boss" simply won't do. Instead , state how much money, and what it is about your boss it is you hate.
One way to do this is to first jot down each item as it comes to mind, leaving some room under each for specifics. Then take a break.
Come back to your list and go over each item filling in the specifics. You now have a more complete picture of the change you intend to make.
Anything else that comes to mind can go in your 'notes' section .
