Yes, very simple - sound nutrition and exercise.
The foundation of fitness is:
1.) flexibility - stretching
2.) muscle - exercise your muscles to exhaustion
3.) cardio - keep your heart rate up! 3 times a week
4.) proper nutrition
5.) consistency and comitment - a daily, a weekly routine - results in a great body of 640 muscles that serve your mind and your soul efficiently.
If you are underweight you can gain weight in good proportions to fat and muscle through diet and exercise.
If you are exercising and building muscle as you work out, that is healthy. As you tone, the muscle helps burn calories and makes you stronger.
If you are a healthy weight currently and take up a sport like running, you will put on muscle mass as you become stronger and burn fat. I gained 7 lbs from jogging and did not go up a size in clothes.
Any extreme of anything is not good. See your doctor if you are concerned about weight gain or loss or want to develop a plan.
Try to sleep more. By forcing the body to rest, it may help to slow down the metabolism that wants to race and send you out burning up calories. Exercise early in the day to avoid increased metabolism while you are resting.
