What are the Autism Symptoms and signs that we need to look out for in our children?
Also in regards to PAcific Island children...What are the stats approximately in Pacific children with this special need??
My brother is autistic and having lived with him all my life I can usually spot an autistic person a mile off. The symptoms, however, will depend on what kind of autism and the severity of it. As a general idea: if a child apparently ignores you a lot even when they are not deaf, if they never look you in the eye when you speak to them, if they have inexplicable obsessions or phobias, if they can't socialise normally with other children, if a young toddler is apparently developing normally but then changes and goes into their own world overnight, if there are any learning disabilities, (like inability to speak/read/write) or if they are unusually high-functioning (very clever at things a child their age wouldn't usually be), if they have any coordination problems. These are some of symptoms, although just one of these on it's own shouldn't be enough to get you worried, but if they have several of these symptoms I would seek a specialist.

I was doing some internet research following a suggestion by my husband's doctor that he should have a blood test for Lyme Disease. I came across a research paper that had carried out blood tests on children diagnosed with autism, and had found that 25% had antibodies to Lyme Disease. ...
