So what is happening at Fukushima - the disabled nuclear no one hears about anymore?
Japan is not out of the danger zone...in fact the nuclear crisis is getting worse and worse! We've recently learned from Japan that the amount of radiation released was more than 20 times that from the Hiroshima bomb, and now it looks they may be experiencing the early stages of a total China Syndrome meltdown. And is the United States in danger too?
I have found it an "eerily silent" subject. I didn't know whether to just chalk it up to short attention spans and how the media tends to quickly jump to the next thing - or if perhaps something more sinister is going on that we are not being told about.
I know radiation from that has reached the states in what was stated to be "low levels" or "not harmful" - but traces of radiation were found in rainwater here very soon after. The EPA and Nuclear Regulatory Commission quickly did the PR thing stating there was no harmful levels of radioactive materials blah blah blah... My question was/is how are any levels of radiation safe?
I continue to hope that we(mankind as a whole) come to our senses and find new technologies that aren't so likely to injure or kill us all.

Do you think we are still getting extra radiation from the Fukushima power plant?

Should we research alternative energy resources, continue to use up the oil, revert back to horses and bovine animals for power, or something else entirely? What are your views on this matter and why?

Should all nuclear plants be banned? There is no safe level of exposure to radiation. Cumulative effects spell cancer and death for untold numbers of people.

What exactly will happen if the nuclear power plant completely fails in Japan? With the aftermath of the earthquake in Japan affecting the nuclear power plant, how will a nuclear meltdown affect the rest of the world, if at all? Can the nuclear radiation travel to other continents if in can...
