Have you ever considered alternative streams of medicine to treat your ailment?

With awareness rising about sideeffects of allopathy drugs and indifferent attitude of a majority of traditional doctors, have you ever considered alternative therapies to treat your problems? If so, which system did you choose for what complaint? Was it effective?

I only choose "alternative" therapies and avoid "modern" medicine whenever possible.  Pharmaceuticals are chemicals, many of which are damaging and harmful to people.  The list of side effects of most drugs goes on and on which is a big red flag that it is not as "safe" as it is alleged to be.

On the other hand, herbal medicine and many other forms of "alternative' medicine have been effective for thousands of years.  I'll trust what actually works over what some pharmaceutical company wants to profit off of.

I treat mild asthma and allergies successfully with herbal remedies and I make my own creams, soaps as well to avoid harsh chemicals smile

I used to get bad headaches almost every day for about a year ... when the painkillers stopped working i tried cupping on the scalp... around the crown region... it worked for me ... didn't have another headache for 3 months. also tried cupping for my spine but that didn't work at all (superman stretches are the best for lower back problems). i've always wanted to try acupuncture too ...

I love acupuncture. I have used it for pain several times, and it works wonders. I have also used massage, rolphing, and acupressure. All have worked really well for different ailments. I use herbs all the time. I became an herbalist & aromatherapist after reading the book by Heidi Banks "It Worked for Me".

I always go to natural treatments first. They are effective and fairly inexpensive, overall. In my article http:/artist101.hubpages.com/hub/is-it-cold-or-allergy I suggest many supplements. All have been tried, and are very effective. My favorite one is oil of oregano, as I have had chronic sinus infections all my life, this supplement, along with grapefruit extract, where the cure!!! I had taken numerous antibiotics, without lasting results. I haven't had another sinus infection, since using these supplements. Each of my recommendations, have been tried, and do work. From acidophulus, for irritable bowel syndrome, trytophan for depression, and progesterone cream for menopause, all have worked. To say that I use a specific system, is not true. I research specific conditions, and apply appropriate supplements, and vitamins for optimum results. Magnesium, is the vitamin I recommend for almost every ailment.
