Instead of surgery, what are the ways or remedy to get rid of the corns permanently?
my son has got corns in his feet..doctors recommend him for surgical removal of it, but he is scared of surgery...so pls advice me here, if there is any alternative remedy for the corns ..Thankyou!
Corns are usually symptomatic of underlying problems- ill fitting shoes, constant rubbing from uneven distribution of pressure, walking habits etc. thick painful protrusion is just the response of the skin of the sole to the undue and uneven pressure.
Getting rid of the underlying cause is the first thing to do- better shoe measurements and finding right size shoes, soft insoles, silicone wedges to support the skin, all work. An already formed corn can be softened with foot products such as salicylate creams, soft Protectice corn plastersetc. Customised padding will also help to alleviate symptoms and slowly but surely eliminate the corn.
Speciality formulated liquid nitrogen will also 'freeze' the corn which will then get inflamed and extruded. Formal 'surgery' is not needed, as a podiatrist can cut away hard skin but this is usually only required for adults.
You can purchase corn-remover products at your local drug store. These products contain salicylic acid. These products should not be used however if you have diabetes or poor circulation due to other causes! You should use these products according to manufacturer's recommendations and under the direction of a licensed healthcare provider. Soaking the feet in warm water and then gentle filing may also help - but again, do so only after consulting your healthcare provider to find out if this is a safe option for your son.
