What are Albinos?
Do you heard about albino? (For eg: Albino Twins). What are they? Does it a disease? Please explain.
Melanin is a hormone that take care of skin pigmentation and it's production and secretion is triggered by a hormone called Melanocyte. Thus, failure in any of these results in deffective skin pigmentation. Thus, Albinism is a disease which causes the skin to become completely white and I think this is what we call "pandu" in Malayalam! People affected by Albinism are called Albinos!
Albinism is a condition characterized by a complete or partial lack of the pigment, melanin in the skin. It affects the skin, hair and eyes and is associated with various eye conditions. When I was working in an animal learning laboratory in graduate school we ran experiments with white (albino) rats that had pink eyes. They were essentially blind and therefore apt to bite at anything in front of their faces due to their inability to see well.
