Would you rather give up freedom for safety, or your safety for freedom?

I have noticed the state of New York slowly turn into a police state in the past twenty years, the country at that matter. Every where we go now a days there is a cop waiting to give you a citation. They have become more like the Gustopo.

I think I'm gonna have to defer to Ben Franklin on this one, with my own little militant pro-life liberal declaration that neither should have to be sacrificed for the other, that they are not mutually exclusive, and they who live lives that jeopardize neither for anyone else, or hey, even help ensure them, are *ENTITLED* to both!   smile

Great point.....basically it is a matter of opinion...I choose freedom, even if that meant i got shot in the face tomorrow...because what is freedom if we have to live in fear for our libertys.

i would much rather have freedom then safety dictated by the government. i can protect myself and my family better then any government ever could. to me freedom is the main thing that separates a good country from a bad one.

Nothing can be given up fully. Freedom and safety, both are needed. Both need to co-exist with maintaining an equilibrium.

That is a very diplomatic answer.

I am more than prepared to give up what little "safety" the government has supposedly established for me, in face of the freedoms I feel I am losing each year.
