For those who interpret dreams, answer this question please, if you are able to do so . . .

I rarely remember even dreaming.  However, I do remember one vivid dream I had  one time, and I am just curious as to what my subconscious mind was telling me, if anything?

Here is the simple dream:  I walked into a completely darkened room, and in the middle of the room was just one very vivid blue comfortable cushioned chair with a ray of light shining down upon it.  That was it.  What is your interpretation of such a dream?

I do not know you or what is going on in your life, but I do like to interpret dreams. To me this means, that there are some bad things going on in your life, you may have some trouble or issues, but deep in your heart you know that there is a time and a place in which things will get better and brighter. Even though everything around you may seem dark (or stressful) there is a solution, you will get to a place in which you will find comfort.

That is my take on it.

Wow, jennshealthstore, I can see that as a very good interpretation, as the completely dark room representing some sort of trouble, then the comfortable chair and light shining down on it meaning hope that I can rest in, plus blue calming.  Thanks!!!

There are not easy answers for dream interpretation; it takes some analysis.

It could represent you as a metaphor.  Where you a chairperson who was feeling blue about your role?  Maybe you were feeling like you were in the spotlight all of a sudden (out of the blue) and instead wished you were invisible.

I have written about this, maybe this will give you some ideas.

Hi Maggie, oh, wow, what another great interpretation and, yes, that could very well be the case, as I am not one to desire to be in the spotlight!  Excellent answer!  Thanks for the link too.

no it does not take analysis.  it takes hearing it from the Holy Spirit

I'm glad you found it helpful.  If you ever want to run other dreams by me feel free.  I try to help people discern the meanings for themselves.

"What is your interpretation of such a dream?"

That you were being shown a choice to move from ignorance (the darkened room) in some area of your life to a more enlightened view (the light of understanding.)

By acting on such a choice, you will be comfortable as you will be in a space that is more who you really are (the comfortable cushioned chair.) Vivid blue speaks to me of spiritual understanding.

Hi Emanate Presence, yes, I can relate to your interpretation, as this was a dream I had a very long time ago, before I had a close intimate & personal relationship with my Lord God. Thanks for the great answer!

Could you be feeling ostracized in some way here of late. It seems the dark room and the one chair means that you may feel alone in a certain part of your life. The blue may be symbolic to the way you are feeling about the situation.

Beware of those who interpret dreams from a formula.  A book of meanings,     There is NO formula for dream interpretation.   Scripture says dreams come from one of two places.  From God or from much activity.  in other words from things you are thinking about.     it is from you there is no interpretation.    If it is from  God the interpretation is only available from the Holy Spirit.
scripture says that God has the interpretation for dreams/
Gen 40:8   And they said to him, "We each have had a dream, and there is no interpreter of it."So Joseph said to them, "Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell them to me, please."
If someone gives you a dream interpretation that was obtained any way other than from the Holy Spirit it  IS NOT THE INTERPRETATION.  If they say "I think" or "I believe"  then it probably is not the interpretation.                       God speaks to people in dreams in a manner they understand.    It does not have to make sense to the interpreter,    he is only a messenger.    what means something to me may mean the exact opposite to you and if God is speaking to me the same information will have a different meaning than if He was speaking to you..
unfortunately many churches teach "dream interpretation with their list of meanings..    This is anGodly, and dangerous teaching and must be exposed for what it is.   I have seem too many people hurt by false interpretations.
Sometimes the interpretation is available right away and other times it can be uears before it is available.    I have even seen someone speak something not knowing what they were doing but the person with the dream said "thank you God now I understand."  it was the interpretation to a dream that person had asked God to interpret.   We have to understand scripture and  how it applies to our own lives.

An honest question, celafoe. Why should anyone trust you to interpret a dream for them? There's no way to verify that what you tell them is true. Why should someone trust you?

  7. profile image0
    Rayne123posted 10 years ago

I have to agree with celafoe on this, because dreams are different for everyone.
Two people can have the same dream and mean completely different to each.

I wrote a hub on dreams to my experience and I do mention this.

I do not believe in dream books, I mean all they are is a way of making money on the books. Snake means something so we look it up, big deal.

I have precognitive dreams however they come from above. My dreams are vivid because the message is from God and when he wants me to know something he sends me dreams/visions.

It all depends what is going on in your life also. Myself has I explain in my hub, I always remember my dreams, I remember dreams from 10 years ago like it was yesterday. There are many types of dreams, however they are given by Angels/God so we can interpret them in our way that God is allowing.

I believe I have been able to remember my dreams from years ago to lead up to my visions/dreams/messages I receive today.

I also do not really believe in writing down a dream or keeping a "dream journal"  as one calls it. If you have to rack your brain to remember your dreams then they are not of importance at this time in your life. Rest assured if they are too be remembered they will. There are some that never remember their dreams, however since we all have dreams of some sort they will still be part of our sleep.

However if I was to interpret your dream through God's eyes , I would say that the darkened room is for the fact that you rarely remember your dreams and this blue chair which symbolizes peace, serenity, calmness, and the light, could be God talking to you, about to shine into your life.

IF this is the first one you remember God has left you a message of peace and love. He may also be telling you to be saved.

Anyway if you want you can talk to God and allow him to show you the meaning to your dream.

Hi JOSEPH FROM SPAIN, yes, that is a good scripture to reference. A dream is given to us while we are asleep, and a vision while we are awake.  Be careful as to visions, as it must line up with what God tells us in His Word or He will not give it.

Darkness in a dream isn't good. That's something that's troubling you in life. Only you know what it is. However, with the ray of light, that's God letting you know you'll be alright. His light is upon you. Just wait upon His will and He will take care of you.

    I hope this helps.

Its interesting that most of the answers agree that you can't just look up the meaning in a 'Dream Dictionary'. I personally think that the majority of our dreams fairly random.
However I do believe that we have a small percentage of dreams that are personally important and meaningful. I think they're meaningful as a way for our subconscious selves to understand our feelings and emotional lives. Things that are difficult to understand and work through purely intellectually
So the mind uses the tools to hand and imbues the parts of a dream with specific personal meanings.  So depending on what was going on in your life at the time the blue chair and light ray would have a very specific meaning, just one that would be very difficult to verbalise.

Hi Paul Du, yes, that makes a lot of sense, it depending on what was going on in my life at and it having a very specific meaning, and it being difficult to put it into words as to its meaning.  Thanks for answering!

Ok, to begin with you walked into a completely darkened room. I wiould simply now inquire about what was going on in your life at this time. After you answer that it will indeed illuminate the metaphor of darkness. Thus, you will begin to understand that an accurate interpretation requires one to carefully listen and discern before suggesting meaning.
The presence of a clear blue comforting chair is the subject of the next round of questions. Although it does indeed appear to stand out and be quite clear; you must remember that the comforting chair is a metaphor also so once again I would ask you to tell me what is or was comforting in your life at that time. In dreams comforting chairs have been representitive of many comforts only by delving into your mind can we see the meaning for you; however, I would go out on a limb and suspect that the chair represents two levels to you. First a slowing down of pace-of-life and also a clear path to move towards. I am not being ambiguous to avoid predicting the meaning. I am simply clearly defining how you personally need to discern the meaning... I hope this is helpful to you.
    Sincerely,
    John

The best interpreter would be yourself. Because dreams aren't always about the symbols. Its about the feeling. How did you feel when this was presented to you. It's not the images presented to you, that you need to be paying attention to. It's what you make of it, not what someone else makes of it. Your telling yourself something. It's all in the "FEELINGS" ;p

    1. celafoe profile image53
celafoeposted 10 years agoin reply to this

Christians are not to go by "feelings" in anything.   The answer here  is that the answer must come from the Holy Spirit , no other place, no matter who it comes thru, the individual with the dream or another

Feelings/emotions are the language of the soul. they come from within. Learning how to interpret your own inner knowing is all part of the Holy Spirit. We are all spiritual beings, regardless of religions.

Your welcome. Have you ever tried meditation? If your still questioning it. You can try this and relate back to the dream. Take it all in with all your senses and see what you discover. Questions are best answered through imagery. ;D

Yes I agree, however in her defense, God gives us the knowledge to receive our dreams then interpret them ourselves. There is  pattern to my dreams and I pretty much know what they mean. However there are times I am given dreams and God leads to anse

as i have said before-- of course interpreting your own dreams is best.
using imagery is not a scriptural concept and should not be practiced by  Christians  .  the only meditation that a Christian should use is meditation on scripture.

The living room represents the center of your life. And even if it is dark on the outskirts of the room, the center of the room has been illuminated to show you that you can be at peace, the chair representing comfort, and the blue color is the color of peace. So you may experience peaceful comfort despite the uncertainty of the circumstance in your life. I hope this interpretation helps. Sorry it took me a while to get to it.
