1) Fiber, 2) Bioflavonoids, 3) Witch Hazel Compress or Cream, 4) Butcher's Broom, and 5) Horse Chestnut.
Drink plenty of fluids, increase your fiber intake (whole grains, vegetables, fruits) and take sitz baths a few times per day (you can use either epsom salts or just baking soda). I tend to be prone to this when I am pregnant, so I use all of these things and can tell you they work, especially the sitz baths.
A very painful condition indeed. I used a product along time ago that really worked. It contained shark cartilage. I don't think they make it any more. You could open a capsule and add it to preparation H. They currently make one with a topical pain reliever. http://www.amazon.com/Equate-Maximum-St … idal+cream

Shark cartilage is renowned for its healing, and repairing properties.
An Ice cube, placed in a ziplock bag, and sit on it. The ice will help to take the swelling down. Tylenol orally, goes directly to the pain.. Do not sit in a hot bath, it will only increase swelling. Tucks pads, or witch hazel applied to the area, and to clean the area. A stool softener may also help, such as colace. if you have to strain its only making matters worse. I developed them after child birth, and later because I was lifting too much weight. I hope this helps:)
I would use caution in consuming any shark cartilage products:
Good article, but not to be consumed. Open a capsule and mix with cream, apply topically.
Drink plenty of fluids, increase your fiber intake (whole grains, vegetables, fruits), aloe vera juice.

I normally use cough medicines which work short term but when it's the cold and flu-ey season again, I get a cough back again. Are there natural remedies which work on a cough?
