Does it seem like there's more smoking in movies now than there was in the Golden Age of Hollywood?

In a time of enlightenment when smoking is banned in publc places in many states, it seems impossible to watch a movie without finding a camera follow a trail of cigarette smoke.  Why is this so?

Not at all. Most stars, male and female, lighted it up in every scene back in the day, some times with no purpose at all. Now it's really rare to see an actor/actress do it unless the script or mood of the scene calls for it, and even then, it's not that frequent.
