What is your preconcieved notion on someone who is blind having and raising a baby?
I would have to say I have no preconceived ideas about blind people raising babies. Throughout my life I have known several blind people. They have had no problems with anything they have done including raising their own children.
In my life I spent 6 weeks legally blind. It taught me a lot. My friends who were blind I had thought spent years learning how to move around. It took me about a month. It amazed me how fast my other senses took over.
The human mind is an amazing thing. It seems to instinctively know how to use what is available to keep a person safe. There is also a bond between mother and child that goes beyond what most people realize. I knew where my son was even without being able to see him. For the most part I knew what he was doing as well.
