Comedian George Lopez : America's King of Mexicans

In celebration of Cinco de Mayo which is a Mexican holiday and festivity, I will feature the king of Mexicans --- George Lopez. George Lopez  is a Mexican-American stand up comedian, actor, plus a talk show host. He is a well known comedian and famous not only to Mexicans in the United States. He self produced the sitcom George Lopez at ABC. The topic of his comedies are : race and ethnic relations, He is also the current host of the late-night talk show Lopez Tonight on TBS. He was approached by president Obama in 2007 to help him with Mexicans vote as he is called the King of Mexicans.

  • He married Ann Serrano in 1993 and they have a child together -- Mayan Lopez.
  • In a reading of Mariah Carey of his ancestry at Lopez Tonight show surprisingly he is of 55% European, 32% Native American, 9% East Asian, and 4% African descent.

  • He testified against the child's family who sued Michael Jackson (which was later acquitted, rest his soul) for child molestation as quoted in msnbc news here : Case of Michael Jackson--"After the judge’s ruling, comedian George Lopez took the stand and told about helping Jackson’s current accuser as the boy battled cancer. Lopez said he came to believe the boy’s father was more interested in money than helping his son. He testified the father accused the comedian of stealing $300 from the boy’s wallet.In msnbc news --Lopez said he finally cut off the family because of the father’s frequent and aggressive requests for help. When the father asked what he was supposed to tell his son, Lopez testified that he responded: “Tell him his father’s an extortionist.--"
  • In January 2007, Geroge Lopez criticized Jay Leno calling him two faced --- "He's the biggest two-faced dude in TV."plus he added that he is back-stabber, plus he commented that Leno is not a good and proficient interviewer. I saw him last night, April 15, 2010 and he seems to be excited that Jay Leno is coming to TBS to join him earlier at 10 pm, and he will move to 11 pm. He is laughing when he said that so probably all is well now.

  • George Lopez is also known for his conflict with Carlos Mencia with regards to an appropriation of 13 minutes of his material in Mencía's HBO special special. He said that theyhave physical altercation about it.

  • George Lopez frequently mentions the name Erik Estrada as he remember one time when he was a teen-ager and he saw the man (was very famous then), he extended his hand and the latter refused to accept it, he cant forget that incident.
